## Astar Degens DAO: Community Update (October 2026) Hi Astar community 👋 Here’s an update on what we’ve built for **Astar Degens** over the last few months. Most of the work went into the **Degens Hub** , our community app at [astardegensdao.com](http://astardegensdao.com), with a focus on governance, transparency and giving our holders and supporters more ways to take part. ### 🏛 Governance - **Governance Terminal (on-chain voting).** Proposals are voted on-chain with a Merkle snapshot of NFT voting power. Wallet-held and staked Degens both count. This summer we added an admin panel for proposals and snapshots, and snapshots are now written through a server-side function so no keys are shared. We also added a script that checks a proposal’s votes against the contract, and made voting more reliable, especially on mobile. - **DAO Council elections (`/council`).** The full election cycle runs in the app: holders apply, admins review, holders run a Q&A with the candidates, and the vote happens on-chain. Each candidate gets their own Yes/No ballot, shown as a race to the number of Yes votes needed. Between elections the page shows the sitting council with their NFTs as profile pictures and links to their X profiles. - **Action Hub.** A personal panel on the landing page shows what’s waiting for you, for example votes you haven’t cast yet. ### 🔍 Transparency - **Community Vault.** We’re building a holder dashboard that shows the DAO treasury in one place. It’s currently in preview for admins and will open to holders once the data has been fully checked. - **dApp Staking supporters.** Once a month we take a snapshot of everyone who supports Astar Degens through dApp Staking. Supporters can claim their rewards on a dedicated claim page (`/claim`). ### 🖼 NFTs, staking and the new landing page - **Daycare NFT staking is dual-chain** , running on **Astar and Soneium**. - Marketplace (Explore, listings, last sales) and minting with allowlist support. - **A redesigned landing page:** - “The Degen Crowd”, a wall of real Degens loaded from IPFS - an interactive roadmap - live numbers from the Hub - a community activity feed - a “Start Here” path for new visitors ### 🔒 Reliability and security - **Sign-in with Ethereum** got much more reliable, especially on mobile and with WalletConnect. - If the main Astar RPC is down, the app now switches to backup (OnFinality). IPFS images now load through the DAO’s own Pinata gateway first. - Fees are now priced from current market conditions instead of the wallet library’s defaults, so transactions on Astar don’t come out under- or over-priced. - **Supply-chain hardening:** dependencies are pinned, CI fails the build if the lockfile is incomplete, packages install without running their install scripts, and every build is tested in Chrome under the production security policy. Automated security updates come through Aikido and Renovate. - Admin areas are protected on the server: sign-in, a holder check and allowlists, with database access locked down by default. ### 🎮 Engagement and Loyalty Points Almost everything in the Hub earns **Degen Loyalty Points (LP)**, including voting. Points are ranked in the **Hall of Fame** : - **The Flex:** a contest where holders put forward their Degen for a round’s theme. Each wallet ranks its top 3 (3, 2 and 1 points), ballots stay sealed until voting ends, and results are revealed in a short ceremony. Round winners go into an **art gallery** and can’t be entered again. Round themes are also available in Japanese. Staked Degens can enter too. - **Loyalty Wheel:** one spin per week, with streak multipliers. - **Degen Broadcast:** X quests where you like and repost for LP. - **Listing Wars:** a community contest on our marketplace. - **In testing on testnet:** - 🕵 **Wanted Degen** , a weekly mystery: 24 Degen suspects and one culprit, with daily clues on the site and in Discord. The answer is committed by hash at the start, so it’s provably fair, and earlier correct guesses earn more LP. - 📊 **Degen Pulse** , a question of the week. You can guess what the majority will answer, comment and upvote on a comment wall, and suggest questions yourself. For closed questions we post a “You said, we did” note on what changed. ### 🔜 What’s next - Open the Community Vault to holders - Move Wanted Degen and Degen Pulse from testnet to mainnet - More Flex rounds Thanks to everyone who votes, stakes for us in dApp Staking, and joins the contests.
