Before sharing my thoughts, I’d like to highlight two things: the detailed explanation of what it means to migrate to Agli Coretime :brain: and the characteristics of the previous model :puzzle_piece:. I believe this is a necessary step to improve the network’s scalability :rocket: and avoid the cumbersome auction process :stop_sign:.

However, I’d like to understand the implications of this migration . I think I heard you mention in a Space that it won’t affect users :raising_hands: — but still, is there any aspect that will be affected? :face_with_monocle:

This switch from the previous Parachain Lease Model to Agile Coretime Model is a switch that has no repercussions for our users or for some projects on the network. The direct impact of this is reflected in treasury management and network consumption.

The main objective of this switch is to be aligned with Polkadot’s technological innovations and the current narrative of said ecosystem. With this, Astar strengthens its commitment to the Polkadot network. :handshake:

:hammer_and_wrench: Astar Network Infrastructure Update: Agile Coretime Auto-Renewal Activation

I. :envelope_with_arrow: Introduction

Hello Astar Community! :glowing_star:

Starting November 1st, 2025, a new onchain referendum will open to reactivate automatic Coretime renewals for Astar Network’s parachain slot on Polkadot, a major step toward full operational stability and sustainability under the Agile Coretime model.

II. :spider_web: Background & Context

In August 2025, Astar successfully migrated to Agile Coretime, Polkadot’s new mechanism that replaces crowdloan auctions with a flexible, market-based model for acquiring execution capacity (“blockspace”). To fund this transition, 100 DOT were allocated by the Astar Finance Committee (AFC) to secure and maintain future renewals through the new Coretime system.

However, during the first renewal attempt in August, an unexpected market manipulation issue in the Coretime pricing system caused extreme volatility, temporarily inflating prices. As a result, the renewal of Core 50 spiked to an abnormal rate of ~540 DOT, nearly 10× higher than the planned 55 DOT budget. This event halted the automated renewal mechanism.

Since then, ensuring continuous uptime became the top priority, while the team worked on restoring sustainable Coretime conditions.

III. :gear: Actions Taken (August – November 2025)

To recover stability and transparency, several key actions were implemented:

:one: Emergency Renewal (544 DOT)

  • Core 50 was manually renewed to maintain network uptime despite inflated market conditions.

:two: Testing & Migration Phase

  • Temporary cores (54, 56, 57, 62) were acquired to test migration, XCM message flow, and assignment procedures.

:three: Migration to Core 57

  • Astar successfully migrated operations to Core 57, which currently sustains network functionality.

:four: Stabilization and Next Core Assignment (Core 38)

  • The next active core, Core 38, will serve as the new standard after a confirmed manual renewal at ~10 DOT, verifying that market prices have returned to stable levels.

:five: Reserve Funding

  • Around 300 DOT remain in Astar’s sovereign account, which optimizes the use of the remaining reserve and can provide up to ~2 years of coverage at the current rate (+3% monthly market variance).

IV. :bullseye: Purpose of the Referendum

This referendum aims to reactivate automatic Coretime renewals through an XCM call from Astar to the Coretime system chain. Once enacted, Astar’s Core 38 will automatically renew every 28 days, ensuring uninterrupted network operation without manual or governance-driven renewals.

V. :ballot_box_with_ballot: Community Participation: Vote Now!

This onchain referendum is live! We invite all ASTR holders to cast their vote and shape the network’s future.

Referendum Details

  • Voting Opens: November 1st, 2025
  • Voting Period: 1 week

:ballot_box_with_ballot::backhand_index_pointing_right: Vote on Subsquare Here

With Core 57 currently active, Core 38 ready for automatic renewal, and stable market conditions restored, Astar is fully prepared to resume automated Coretime management, efficiently and sustainably.

We invite every ASTR holder to participate in this important governance decision and help shape Astar’s Coretime future on Polkadot. :globe_with_meridians::dizzy:

fully support this proposal! Do we need to vote and renew it every 28 days? I hope there is a way to auto renew for future without big price changes

Automatic renewal of Agile Coretime is essential for maintaining the parachain, so of course I’m in favor!

By the way, in the text, AFC is written as Astar Foundation Council, but the correct name is Astar Finance Committee — please correct that.

This is a key step for Astar’s long-term stability. Reactivating automatic Coretime renewals will keep the network running smoothly and sustainably without manual intervention.

Great to see the team restoring stability and preparing for full automation an important milestone for Astar’s future.

This is one of the most important upgrades in Astar’s history. Moving from parachain leases to Agile Coretime finally removes the biggest long term risks: expensive auctions, renewal uncertainty, and operational downtime. The new model gives Astar cloud like flexibility, automatic renewals, and full alignment with Polkadot 2.0.

In simple terms this shift makes Astar cheaper, safer, and future proof for developers and the ecosystem.
