Following our July infrastructure report, we have released the Aradia Astar MCP.
AI models are useful for explaining concepts and accelerating development, but their knowledge is limited by their training date. They can rely on outdated information, infer details that have changed, or lack access to the current state of a blockchain, repository, ecosystem directory or indexed dataset.
Aradia Astar MCP is designed to help close that gap.
It gives MCP-compatible AI tools a controlled, read-only way to retrieve current Astar information from selected official sources and Aradia’s indexed Astar data. Instead of treating a model response as the final source of truth, builders can ask the model to consult current evidence and return the relevant sources, retrieval context and limitations.
The goal is to contribute a practical shared resource for the next builders who want to develop on Astar.
Current capabilities
The MCP currently provides read-only access to:
- Current Astar network identity, runtime version and finalized-block observations.
- Selected official Astar repositories:
AstarNetwork/Astar,AstarNetwork/astar-docsandAstarNetwork/astar-apps. - Source-file retrieval with resolved commit revisions and immutable GitHub links.
- Code search within the allowed Astar repositories.
- Pull request, issue and release metadata from those repositories.
- Imported official Astar documentation and public Aradia API documentation.
- A searchable Astar and Soneium ecosystem directory.
- Project records and ecosystem categories.
- Indexed Astar NFT collection data.
- Indexed NFT metadata and bounded collection NFT queries.
- Indexed wallet NFT portfolios.
- Indexed NFT transfer history and recent activity.
- Aradia indexer coverage and latest indexed-block status.
- Service status and provider availability.
The MCP distinguishes between repository code, release metadata, indexed API data and on-chain observations. A repository release does not by itself prove that a feature is active on-chain, and indexed NFT data is presented with its source and retrieval time.
Demonstration
We are sharing a Claude conversation and selected screenshots that show the intended workflow.
View the conversation
The assistant begins with an answer based on its existing knowledge. It then uses Aradia Astar MCP to consult current network information, official documentation, source code, releases and ecosystem resources before answering again with evidence from the current environment.
This is the role we believe MCP can play for Astar: helping AI-assisted builders move from static model knowledge toward answers grounded in current, inspectable resources.
Connect Aradia Astar MCP
Aradia Astar MCP is publicly hosted and read-only. No Aradia API key, GitHub token or environment variables are required for users.
Remote MCP endpoint
https://mcp.aradia.app/mcp
Claude, Claude Desktop and Cowork
- Open Customize → Connectors.
- Click + → Add custom connector.
- Enter a name such as
Aradia Astar MCP. - Add the remote MCP endpoint: https://mcp.aradia.app/mcp
- Save the connector.
- Enable it for a conversation through the + → Connectors menu.
For Claude Team and Enterprise workspaces, an Owner must first add the connector in Organization settings → Connectors.
ChatGPT
ChatGPT support depends on the account plan and workspace settings.
- Enable Developer mode in Settings → Apps → Advanced settings when available.
- Create a custom MCP app.
- Add the remote MCP endpoint: https://mcp.aradia.app/mcp
- Scan the available tools and create the app.
- Enable the app in a chat before making an Astar-related request.
The MCP only exposes read-only tools. ChatGPT Pro supports read/fetch MCP usage in Developer mode; Business, Enterprise and Edu workspaces have additional MCP app controls.
Code editors and local MCP clients
For editors and desktop tools that accept an mcpServers configuration, use Node.js 22 or later and add:
{
"mcpServers": {
"aradia-astar": {
"command": "pnpm",
"args": [
"dlx",
"@aradia-astar/astar-mcp@latest"
]
}
}
}
The client starts automatically when the editor launches the MCP server. It connects to the hosted Aradia Astar MCP endpoint, so no API key or local Go installation is required.
To verify the connection from a terminal:
pnpm dlx @aradia-astar/astar-mcp@latest doctor
To pin a known package version instead of automatically receiving updates, replace latest with a published version such as 0.1.1.
Service endpoint: https://mcp.aradia.app/mcp
Developer package: @aradia-astar/astar-mcp
What we are exploring next
We are also beginning to explore a game concept for the Astar ecosystem. The direction under consideration is a game that could distribute dApp Staking rewards through participation and gameplay.
This is still at the exploration stage. We will share more concrete details only after the mechanics, reward model and implementation approach have been properly defined.
