dApps Staking v2 - Delegated Reward Claim (cont.)

Burning could be the best choice for the ecosystem but it could cause a bag reaction from users that lose the rewards and this is not the time to create bad rumors and negativity in the network. We could already start setting up an auto claim for dormant wallets (more than 40 eras of inactivity for example) so that we gradually arrive to the V3 version with the majority of the rewards claimed

I’m against the idea of burning rewards because I can already see a very harsh backlash occurring and requires a lot of team and agent resources to deal with users who have lost their rewards.

To give you an idea, some addresses have up to 9,000 unclaimed Eras, which means they haven’t been active for years.

I agree that users should be responsible for their funds, but we also don’t want to add work to the Astar team and contributors just for philosophical reasons, as we already have far more important things to focus on over the next few months.

It could also lead to very bad publicity for Astar Network on social networks.

Hi,

Thanks for your proposal.

Great decision by the team. In my opinion, i would have suggested a window period be given to the community to claim their staking rewards via an official announcement. Users who do not claim within the stipulated period would have their rewards burnt.

However, considering the time constraints as the launch of dApp Staking approaches very fast. The first solution would be ideal to aid timely execution and fairness. Just my humble opinion though.

Thank you.

Can funds be ‘claimed’ by Astar team then sent directly into the wallet address of the staked wallet?

What if we issue v2Astar and create a dex that can be exchanged with 0.94ASTAR?

Let it BURRRRN!

I am in favor of token burns! This will benefit the entire Astar community. I believe in widespread dissemination of the rules and alerting users to the need to make claims… users should be responsible for managing their tokens and keeping up with blockchain-related news.

An aggressive marketing campaign alerting about claim and BURN dates!!

Thanks for the reply and update !
I understood.

While this is true, not all people will be able to acquire information from a single announcement. Therefore, I think multiple announcements are necessary.

However, based on what has been updated, it seems that a countdown may not be necessary. However, I think it is necessary to make multiple announcements, not once, but several times, not for Claim, but in the form of v3 transition announcements, so that people are aware of it.

Not only through platforms like Discord and SNS but especially in times like this, utilizing emails from “info@astar.network” or Medium can increase the likelihood of informing those who don’t use Discord or SNS much but have notifications set up.

If I were to express my honest opinion as someone working in a general company, I believe there is no company that would willingly transfer money to a business partner who doesn’t send invoices, citing reasons like pity or anticipating future complicated complaint handling.

I hope for a world where diligent ants don’t have to spend time and effort protecting grasshoppers…

However, even for inactive stakers, it is a fact that they have contributed to the network’s maintenance. If we consider their contributions as merits, the mechanism for delegated claims would be a compromise.

I appreciate everyone’s lively discussion.
Thank you☆

Burning unclaimed rewards isn’t fair. It’s like if someone rents out their house but doesn’t collect the rent money right away. We wouldn’t say that the rent money should be taken from them because they were slow to collect it. In banks, unclaimed money is kept safe, not taken away. We should do the same with staking rewards and keep them for the owners. Let’s help them claim their rewards instead of burning them. This is the right and fair thing to do.

Hi @Vert, just what you mention is stereotypical. First of all we are not a bank, we are a protocol with a defined consensus. I invite you to read here the limitations mentioned by @Dino:

We don’t want our users to be affected, on the contrary, we want everyone to keep winning because together we make the network work, but we can’t be responsible for their oversights and delays.

Just to clear any confusion, we’ve decided to go with delegated claiming.
I’ve updated the original post two times in the last two weeks with additional information.

dApp staking v3 & Tokenomics 2.0 has been launched on Shiden, and prior to that all staker rewards have been claimed. No one lost anything.

For Astar, the bot is still executing delegated claims. There are roughly 1.2M rewards remaining to be claimed - it should be done by this Sunday CET morning I assume.

Decommission mode will be turned on on Astar today, preventing new rewards from being generated. Users can still claim their unclaimed staker & dApp rewards though.

All pending rewards were claimed for stakers before the upgrade to dApp Staking V3, you can find them in the rewards tab or in your wallet balance tab on Subscan.
