As Astar enters 2026, the focus shifts toward execution and how economic activity across the ecosystem translates into value for ASTR.
Astar’s 2026 strategy focuses on product delivery. While collaboration across the ecosystem continues, operational control and economic value will remain under the Astar Collective.
I. Four Areas of Value Capture
This new blog outlines how Astar approaches value capture across four key areas:
Area
Focus
Tokenomics
Base layer with emissions discipline, fixed maximum supply (~10.5B ASTR), and decay factor on inflation
Products
Astar Stack generating real economic activity through Astar Fi, Astar Guard, and Comet Swap
DeFi Operations
Treasury management and yield strategies conducted by the Astar Foundation and AFC
Burndrop
Supply reduction through governance-controlled token burns
Each of these areas represents a pillar where Astar captures value from ecosystem activity. Together, they form a cohesive framework to ensure that economic activity not only grows the network but also reinforces the utility and value of ASTR over time.
II. The Objective
Build products and operate infrastructures that generate real economic activity, and ensure that value created onchain is captured and routed back to ASTR.
As activity grows, value is captured in a controlled and repeatable manner. Allocation decisions are governed through established Collective processes, keeping flexibility while ensuring captured value continues to reinforce ASTR over time.
III. Read the Full Blog
This forum post provides a high-level overview.
The full blog dives deeper into each area, including how each Astar Stack component contributes to value capture, details on stablecoin infrastructure with USDSC and Startale’s JPY-denominated stablecoin, and how Burndrop links ecosystem usage directly to ASTR burns.
Given Astar’s current situation, releasing products is extremely important. I’m particularly interested in what kinds of DeFi use cases will emerge around USDSC and JPY-denominated stablecoins. In a downturn like the current one, stablecoin-based strategies tend to become especially valuable, so depending on the details, this could be quite effective in expanding the ecosystem. It would also be great if Star Points were included.
There is already JPYC as a JPY-denominated stablecoin, but it is still far from widespread adoption, so there is plenty of room to compete.
It is exciting to see this new direction at Astar. I have a very good feeling that Astar will run like clockwork to create greater balance and stability in each area, relying on the collective, as its plan seeks to create a loop that captures value for the ecosystem and thus continues to drive it forward.
The topic of stablecoins is very important. Despite the general market situation, the stablecoin market is at an all-time high.
Here are some interesting facts:
The total market capitalization of stablecoins reached an all-time high of $310.29 billion on December 21, 2025, an increase of 51.2% from $205.24 billion on January 1, 2025.
This gives an idea of the cash flow entering the stablecoin market. Demand seems endless, and it could be a good start for USDSC and JPY. Everything would focus on creating attractive products (APY-APR) for both retail and institutional investors that are easy to access and manage. I am sure that we can leverage USDSC in particular, as it is a stablecoin with global reach, and consolidate attractive products based on it.
More details about this will definitely be shared in the future, but this, as part of the Astar Stack, will have a significant focus for Astar in 2026.
