Thanks everyone for joining the discussion and thanks for the full summary @Juminstock.
As part of the Astar Foundation, I intentionally waited some time to join the discussions to understand the sentiment and solutions coming from the Collective. It’s great to see that some of the solutions proposed are aligned with how I see the evolution for dApp Staking.
I would like to share some of my thoughts that we have to keep in mind:
-
We need to ensure we don’t make it too complex for projects to join or stay in dApp Staking. I see dApp Staking as a tool where the community supports projects they use and want to help in their development. Ideally, we’d make the pool smaller for users to stake on, listing only those that truly benefit Astar and bring value to its token.
With this in mind, we also need to remember that good projects work and develop 24/7 to keep their dApp attractive and secure. People working on these projects report to their internal management teams. We need to create the right balance where they also report to the protocol they build on to maintain support. But should they have to do this if they already attract many users and generate positive sentiment around Astar?

Who will carry the responsibility after the update of dApp Staking. As Astar shifted in to a Collective, we need to make sure the R&R are well distributed. Today, Astar Foundation, announced it’s direction on what they will work on towards Astar value. We will focus on shipping products around the Astar token. To start with this, we agreed that we first set the right foundation around tokenomics and dApp Staking but maintaining dApp Staking we do hope we can count on our Collective, more so, the Community Council. Their voice would be crucial about how dApp Staking should look like so they can do proper management.
While the Astar Foundation hasn’t been very vocal in this discussion, we already did a lot of R&D around the proposed solutions to see how much impact it would have on the code and on our desired timeline. We will present soon, how we would like to make the changes. Our goal is first to adjust the tokenomics and then change dApp Staking so when the current period is over, the new model starts.
