Best Approach to Start a dApp on Astar with EVM vs. Wasm?

Hello everyone,

I am new to Astar. I am thinking of building a simple dApp for a community rewards system. I see that Astar utilizes EVM and Wasm smart contracts as possible ways to build dApps and I am trying to make sense of which route will be better for someone who is just starting but may want to grow it into something bigger down the road.

So far I understand that EVM has more developer familiarity for developers migrating from Ethereum-based applications while Wasm may provide better performance benefits long term as well as more flexibility. My key areas of concern are community support, ease of deployment, and any tools in the ecosystem that currently exist right now on Astar (as I have not done overly extensive research).

I came across this website :https://forum.astar.network/t/dapp-staking-astar-foundation-proposal-next-steps/7950/what-is-RAG

Does anyone here have any experiences with either approach that they would like to share? Are there any key limitations or advantages to deploying on one versus the other within the Astar ecosystem?

In addition, are there any resources, starter templates that you would recommend or anything of that nature for someone building a basic dApp, that would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for your time and any insights.

Hi @nevatik! Thank you for your interest in building on our Astar network.

There’s actually a lot we can talk about at this point, I’d be happy to share resources, scaffold code you can use so you don’t have to start from scratch, readings, and much more. However, our forum is not the ideal place for this.

I invite you to join our community here: Astar Network

There, I’ll be able to answer all your questions, provide direct support, and connect you with the rest of our builder community.

Hope to see you there soon! :handshake:t4:

Hi @nevatik , glad to see and welcome to Astar Network. As @Juminstock mentioned, dedicated channels for builders can be found in Discord. Look forward to seeing your idea on the network!
