For a few days already, Rabby Wallet has been displaying a warning indicating that Astar will no longer be supported as a standard blockchain in the wallet. While it’s still possible to add ASTR through a custom network, the value of the ASTR token will no longer be displayed or integrated into the wallet balance.
Rabby is one of the most widely used EVM wallets alongside MetaMask, so losing this integration is quite problematic in my opinion.
Does the Astar core team:
is aware of this upcoming delisting on Rabby?
Know why Rabby decided to delist ASTR?
Are they working with Rabby to prevent this delisting?
If anyone from the team could clarify the situation, it would be greatly appreciated.
Happy to answer your questions.
We do have a direct channel with Rabby team and have been talking with them.
Yes we are aware of this.
The reason is as follows:
On-chain TVL and real daily transactions are too low to justify continued support.
This is to minimize our ongoing maintenance costs.
We have been talking with them regarding continue the support through grants etc… but they clearly stated that its not about money but purely about undergoing a strategic consolidation of supported networks.
As the wallet landscape changes all the time these things happen. We continue working directly with Rabby/Debank team to keep Astar as a network. Astar will still have full visibility on Soneium with Rabby. With the upcoming Astar Fi initiative we will make sure a huge part of this gap will be removed through our products and even further strenghten ASTR over the most used ecosystems.
Thanks for sharing your sentiment.
Core team will continue fighting on many fronts to ensure ASTR’s position.
Thanks for the answer. But honestly, even if Astar will still be visible, this is still a huge blow.
Also, why are you mentioning Debank? I know that Rabby was developed by the DeBank team, but is DeBank planning to delist Astar support as well?
To be honest, Astar EVM/Substrate — and more broadly the Polkadot ecosystem — is a pain in the A** to follow and to compile transactions from. If the most user-friendly EVM wallet and transaction tracker stops supporting the Astar EVM side, it will further reduce Astar’s attractiveness for (new) users.
I’m also disappointed that Rabby no longer natively supports Astar EVM. However, it will still be possible to use Rabby by manually adding the Astar EVM network in the custom chains settings.
That said, DeFi positions (such as lending/borrowing or LP providing) will most likely no longer appear in the Rabby dashboard.
