Thank you very much @Vangardem, cross-chain liquidity aggregation is definitely something we’ve been considering.
The current bottleneck is interoperability infra on Astar L1 EVM, today we don’t have a solution that’s both cheap and easy to use at scale. We do have celerUSDC / celerUSDT and cBridge, but fees can be very high. We also have native USDT from XCM but the user experience is not ideal.
Post-launch, we will explore with Astar Foundation for a more seamless and cost-efficient setup in future iterations and ecosystem enhancements.
Thanks for the clarification. really appreciate the thoughtful approach. I like the emphasis on avoiding short-term incentive traps and instead focusing on real ASTR holder demand and execution quality.
Working with dedicated LPs from day one also makes a lot of sense for sustainability. Looking forward to seeing how Comet Swap evolves and contributes to the ASTR ecosystem.
Thank you for your interest in building on Astar.
Could you please clarify where the DEX’s liquidity will come from and how it will be sustained over time?
Key points to address:
Initial and long-term liquidity sources
Incentive structure and duration
Plan for liquidity retention post-incentives
Core trading pairs and market focus
User and LP acquisition strategy
Alignment with Astar’s ecosystem and long-term viability
With the helpful advice from your team, I was able to create a clear and easy-to-understand article explaining the key features of Comet Swap. I hope it will be useful for community members who want to catch up early.
Thanks for the thoughtful question @pitcoin777 this is indeed a critical factor in whether a native CLMM can reliably serve Astar users.
1) Initial liquidity, long-term liquidity & incentives
We’ve addressed some of the core considerations here
and to further elaborate:
Incentives: We’re intentionally cautious with incentives, especially in the early stage. We don’t want Comet to become a “farm, dump, and leave” venue. Instead, our priority is to deliver a smooth, reliable trading experience and build liquidity around real demand.
Initial liquidity: We have a dedicated liquidity plan backed by ASTR-aligned supporters and dedicated LP partners, aimed at ensuring baseline depth and consistent execution from day one.
Long-term liquidity: We expect liquidity to be sustained through a combination of real trading demand, continuous product iteration, and integrations that expand distribution via ecosystem entry points (e.g. Astar Portal).
2) Liquidity retention
Our core thesis is simple: only real usage creates real value.
Liquidity is retained when LPs see consistent, organic trading activity rather than short-lived incentive spikes. Our focus is therefore on making Comet a venue where users genuinely trade, supported by tooling and integrations (e.g. ALM strategies) that allow LP positions to be managed efficiently over time.
3) Core trading pairs
Our initial focus will be ASTR-centered liquidity and the most actively used assets in the ecosystem:
ASTR
major stablecoins (e.g. USDC / USDT)
major blue-chip assets (e.g. ETH / BTC)
We’ll expand supported pairs based on community feedback and observed demand.
4) User & LP growth, ecosystem alignment & long-term viability
From a longer-term perspective, Comet Swap is fully aligned with Astar’s direction, and we plan to evolve alongside the Astar Foundation’s broader ecosystem strategy.
Comet is designed to be:
a smooth and secure trading infrastructure
ASTR-anchored and intentionally non-extractive
Growth is also driven by strong swap UX, clear education, and community-led adoption, while liquidity scales from aligned LP partners to ALM strategy integrations - allowing both users and LPs to participate with lower friction and greater long-term sustainability on Astar.
Organic growth is everything. I love that idea from the team, not to create a feeling of temporary euphoria in the community, but rather to ensure that use of the platform is sustained over time.
However, in my opinion, participation campaigns can be created that are accompanied by educational content on how the DEX works. It’s true that organic growth matters, but creating engagement with the community is also extremely important, as is attracting new users to the ecosystem.
In short, I believe that a way can be found to create attractive campaigns so that the community and new users are drawn to use and trade on the platform, showing them that Comet Swap is their safe place for exchanges and trading, giving them the assurance that they can always use it simply and efficiently.
It is up to the team, the community, the foundation, and the agents to find a balanced way to promote the DEX that involves educational material and campaigns based on raising awareness of the use and true value that Comet Swap will have from an operational point of view, seen from the perspective of a strong and lasting public service.
This is something that agents are debating. It would be good if @Juminstock took a look at this point from the perspective that is now being analyzed in this thread.
Thanks for the insightful points, we agree with the direction you’ve outlined! @Vangardem
Regarding campaigns, they are possible and should not be viewed as short-term liquidity tools. Instead, they will focus on fostering organic usage, raising awareness, and driving long-term adoption - fully aligned with the principles you’ve described.
We will work on more appropriate approaches, including exploring suitable campaign platforms. We’ll also ensure continued alignment with the Astar Foundation’s views and stay coordinated on initiatives like Astar Guild tasks, and other options.
Thanks for tagging me and giving me visibility, @Vangardem! We will work very closely with @MaxX team to, as you mentioned, carry out campaigns that encourage participation and reward action
