Swapify: Cross-Chain Token Swapping dApp on Astar Network - dApp Staking Proposal

Swapify: Cross-Chain Token Swapping dApp on Astar Network - dApp Staking Proposal

As the founder and lead developer of Swapify, I propose building a high-performance cross-chain token swapping application on Astar Network. Swapify will enable seamless trading between cryptocurrencies across 30+ blockchains, leveraging Astar’s infrastructure to deliver direct-to-wallet swaps with competitive rates, instant settlements, and robust liquidity management. Below, I outline my vision, technical strategy, and commitment to enhancing Astar’s ecosystem through this initiative. At the beginning, I want to build a swap feature, but then to extend functionalities much more using ASTR token as a main incentive to participate. I also want to integrate also native BTC exchanges. NO NEW TOKEN ISSUANCE. I write the proposal because I want to collect feedback, for now the proposal is flexible.

Introduction

Project Overview

Swapify is my answer to the growing demand for interoperable DeFi solutions. Inspired by platforms like SideShift.ai, this dApp will allow users to trade between BTC, ETH, SOL, ASTR, and 200+ other assets directly from their wallets. My focus is on creating a secure, user-friendly platform that prioritizes speed and accessibility while integrating natively with Astar’s multi-chain ecosystem.

Vision and Mission

My vision is to position Astar as the leading hub for cross-chain liquidity by eliminating fragmentation between blockchain economies. Through Swapify, I aim to lower entry barriers for new users, amplify ASTR’s utility, and foster deeper integration with external ecosystems like Polkadot, Ethereum, and Cosmos.

Technical Implementation

Core Functionality

Swapify’s workflow is streamlined into three steps:

  1. Users select source and destination assets.

  2. Funds are deposited into a generated address.

  3. Swapped tokens arrive directly in the user’s wallet. This simplicity ensures minimal friction while maintaining security through non-custodial settlements

Architecture Design

The application will comprise:

  • Astar-Based Smart Contracts: For managing swaps, liquidity pools, and fee distribution as ASTR token.

  • Cross-Chain Bridges: Initial integrations with Polkadot, Ethereum, and Bitcoin, expanding to Solana, Cosmos, and others.

  • Dynamic Frontend: A responsive interface optimized for web and mobile, featuring real-time price charts and portfolio tracking.

  • Automated Liquidity Rebalancing: Algorithms to optimize asset ratios and minimize slippage

Key Features

  • Support for 150+ cryptocurrencies and 30+ blockchains.

  • Fixed and floating exchange rates.

  • Partner API for wallets, exchanges, and DeFi platforms.

  • Affiliate programs to incentivize ecosystem growth.

  • Optional memo fields for compatibility with chains like Binance Smart Chain

I pledge to:

  • Host biweekly AMAs on Astar’s Discord.

  • Distribute educational content on cross-chain mechanics.

  • Offer bug bounties for vulnerabilities reported

Staking Incentives for ASTR Holders

Reward Structure

Stakers will receive:

  • Reduced Fees: 0.1% trading fee (vs. 0.3% standard) for stakers holding 1,000+ ASTR.

  • Governance Rights: Vote on new asset listings and feature rollouts.

  • Loyalty Bonuses: Additional ASTR rewards for stakers maintaining positions across multiple Build&Earn periods

Marketing Strategy

Target Markets

  • Existing DeFi users seeking cheaper cross-chain swaps.
  • Astar ecosystem participants needing liquidity for yield farming.
  • Institutional traders requiring large-volume OTC settlements.
  • During the development of the project I want to deliver a massive amount of public learnings from live building and sharing on social media.

Growth Tactics

  • Partner with wallets like Talisman and Nova Wallet for direct integrations.
  • Sponsor hackathons focused on cross-chain dApps.
  • Collaborate with Astar influencers for tutorial videos
  • Generate a lot of technical knowledge

Conclusion

I respectfully request the Astar community’s support to include Swapify in the dApp Staking program. By staking ASTR on this project, you’ll not only earn rewards but also help establish Astar as the backbone of cross-chain interoperability.

I’m committed to fulfilling all requirements outlined in Astar’s dApp Staking guidelines, including GitHub tagging, DefiLlama listings, and ecosystem page contributions. Your feedback during the forum discussion phase will be invaluable in refining Swapify’s roadmap.

Together, we can bridge fragmented blockchain economies and unlock Astar’s and the whole crypto space full potential as a multi-chain leader. Thank you for considering this proposal.

Hello @tomasz-waszczyk! Thanks for adding this proposal to the Astar forum.

Your proposal is definitely very attractive, the idea of using Astar as the main hub for your application is really interesting and could benefit the entire community that wants to access these services. I have a couple of questions for you:

  1. At the beginning, how do you plan to handle the liquidity issue?
  2. What services are you planning to use for the bridges? This will depend heavily on whether they support ASTR or not.
  3. It’s not entirely clear to me whether you plan to build this on Astar L1 or EVM, have you already decided?

Lastly, one of the requirements to apply for the Astar dApp Staking program is that your application, or at least your MVP, must be live on Astar Network. You can check all the requirements here: Requirements | Welcome to Astar.

From what I see in your roadmap, you’re planning to deploy on our network within months 1–2. Does that mean you already have some development in progress? Is there anything built already?

I’d love to see more tangible information, like your user acquisition strategy, your planned revenue model, and other details that could help give us a clearer picture of your idea.

Thanks for the excellent suggestion.
The cross-chain swap/bridge with Astar is very inflexible right now, so any new solution in this area would be very welcome.

Juminstock has asked some of the questions I wanted to ask, but as an addition I would like to hear more about the cross-chain architecture.
From the proposal, it looks like they are trying to address blockchains of various technology stacks, Polkadot-based, EVM-based, Bitcoin, Cosmos-based, TON, etc. Except for TON, the Polkadot-based blockchains have implemented the bridge so far, so it looks like it can be applied to some extent. However, implementing all of them would be quite a challenge.

Solid proposal—clear vision, strong roadmap, and great call to use ASTR without a new token. Smart focus on non-custodial swaps, security, and cross-chain liquidity. Define MVP scope more clearly and explain how you’ll source initial liquidity. Consider future governance via ASTR staking.

Also, sorry to hear about your accident—glad you’re back and building again. Swapify could be a strong addition to Astar.

Hey Tomasz, I’m happy to see you back in the ecosystem. You’re one of Astar’s OGs and were one of the first technical ambassadors.

Thank you for sharing the detailed proposal for Swapify. It’s clear that you have a strong vision for advancing cross-chain swapping on Astar, which aligns well with the ecosystem’s goals. Before we proceed with dapp staking approval, the council would appreciate further clarification on several important aspects to better understand the project’s feasibility and potential impact:

  1. User Demand & Market Validation
Could you share any existing data or research that validates user demand for Swapify? For example, pre-registrations, surveys, or competitor analysis that demonstrate the unique value Swapify will bring to Astar’s community.
  2. Technical Readiness
Do you have a public GitHub repository with an MVP or proof of concept deployed? We’d also like to understand the status of smart contract development and integration with cross-chain bridges.
  3. Key Metrics & KPIs
Please provide target metrics such as expected TVL, daily swap volume, number of active users, and anticipated ASTR token utility over the first 3–6 months.
  4. Community Engagement Plan
How do you plan to keep the Astar community involved? Could you outline your schedule for AMAs, dev updates, educational content, and bug bounty programs?
  5. Project Team & Capacity
Given your past experience and the unfortunate accident you mentioned, can you confirm your current availability and team capacity to deliver on the roadmap?
  6. Economic Sustainability
What is your revenue model, projected monthly costs, and timeline for becoming financially sustainable without continuous reliance on dApp staking incentives?
  7. Roadmap & Milestones
Could you provide a more granular roadmap with clear deliverables and milestones linked to funding release schedules?
  8. Marketing Strategy
Please share details on your marketing plan, partnerships, and expected budget for community growth and user acquisition.
  9. Governance & Token Utility
How will governance participation be structured for ASTR stakers? What mechanisms ensure transparency and user control over fees and liquidity?

I recommend that you submit your proposal to the UCG program before applying for dApp Staking, as the product is not yet developed and you may need initial funding to build the MVP. I believe the ideal path would be:

UCG → dApp Staking

This approach can help secure the necessary early resources and demonstrate progress before scaling up.
We appreciate your commitment to strengthening the Astar ecosystem and look forward to your responses to help us move forward with confidence.

First of all, I hope you get well soon. I’m sending you my best wishes and support. =)

As for the proposal overall, I find it quite interesting. If I may, I’d like to ask a couple of follow-up questions:

  1. From a business perspective, I understand that several dApps offering cross-chain swaps are starting to expand into the Soneium ecosystem. How does the team view the opportunities or challenges arising from this?

  2. From a product or marketing standpoint, what plans does the team have to capture market share from other players?

Hi @tomasz-waszczyk sorry to hear what has happened, but glad to see you again. It seems nothing can stop you from development in a good way!

  • As others already mentioned, attracting new users on Swapfi would require marketing as well as incentives, do you already have self-funding before SwapFi being listed on dAppstaking or UCG program? This concern also links to the audit cost.

  • Do you also consider having Swapfi on Soneium? It would be easier for Swapfi to be exposed by leveraging the Superchain ecosystem.

Bests, pithecus

I want to build a mix of archtectures of delivering the product. My goal is it build stable business and that is why I want to integrate CEX with my product. Some trading pairs going to be on-chain, some via centralised exchanges. I want to avoid crazy ups and downs due to bad accrue value mechanism.

Swapify’s direct-to-wallet approach provides a significant opportunity for product differentiation through superior user experience design. User-friendly interfaces and efficient transaction processing have become critical differentiators in the DEX space . The platform should prioritize lightning-fast trades to get real market prices in real-time. It could be hard to deliver at the begining but I see the product long term with many trading pairs and also when the product will be mature enough to work on direct integrations with wallets.

Thanks for the input. Yes this is very true, I want to make marketing at first stages mostly from building technical materials how looks like building. For now I am after a pause in business activities and do not have self funding. Reagarding audits, at first stages I want to integrate CEX pair like BTC → ASTR and ASTR → BTC to deliver easy onramp and offramp from/to Bitcoin and do not think I need an audit. For onchain operations definitly auditi is required, but I need to start at some point.

Sure! Definitely, no questions about that. Thanks for your input and I encourage about more questions and doubts especially reagarding my first plan at the very begining to deliver onramp and offramp from Bitcoin. Deliver trading pair like BTC-> ASTR and ASTR → BTC.

I would appreciate also a feedback from Core Team  @Maarten @Sota.Watanabe

Thanks for this detailed proposal @tomasz-waszczyk
A dApp like this would bring much more utility to Astar’s L1 and I think the whole community needs such a service. I don’t think I need to add more questions since most of the doubts have already been mentioned before.
I await the detailed answer and I am in favor of the support and the listing on the portal (although it would be nice to see the application at UCG)
I hope you have recovered with health, take care

It seems to me an interesting project that would be a good way to bring sufficient liquidity into Astar’s ecosystem. I have a few non-technical questions:

  1. We are facing a possible boom and narrative focused on stablecoins, (institutions will be very thirsty to have stablecoins), in that case the application will have all the necessary, i.e. how to list the largest number of stablecoins and that they can be exchanged with ASTR wherever it is?

  2. As for the UI/UX I would love to have more details, as I see that the project is ambitious in terms of implementation and scalability, and being so ambitious, I’m a little uneasy about how you will address native or cross-chain users of the various tokens.

Thanks, the rest I think colleagues have already asked.

My idea is to deliver firstly ASTR/BTC pair and then integrate stablecoins, the question is which one firstly, probably USDC.

I want to integrate and use centralized exchanges APIs at first stage of the development. Which trading pairs are the most important, could you give advice which pairs do you want to exchange at most?

Greetings and sorry for your unfortunate accident.

In the future it would make more sense to focus on Superchain instead of focusing on Polkadot & Cosmos ecosystems. One of our current active directions is the joint development of Soneium & Astar. Since ASTR is moving forward with a collective structure, it is in your best interest to focus on Superchain.

Also, are there $ASTR-backed chains based only on EVM and SVM? There has been a lot of interest in MOVE languages lately. Would you consider supporting them as well?

Finally, do you have plans for MEV bots?

Hey @tomasz-waszczyk So far as I saw the majority of the trades are made in ETH and not in BTC (DeFi).
Even checking on any onchain scanner or data analisys paltforms (DeFillama,Gecko Terminal ) we can see these pairs being the major liquidity on EVM chains.
ETH/ASTR, ETH/USDC.e, USDC.e/ASTR, USDC.e/USDT
It will be nice to see the usage of Soneium partners such as Sake Finance, they have their own stable coin product (SONE)

As Vasa says most trades are against ETH, include stablecoins like USDC, USDT, or SONE, to start with ASTR pairs and ecosystem tokens, perhaps in the future DAI and USD1.

The crypto exchange market is experiencing substantial growth, with the global market expected to expand from $24.75 billion in 2024 to $213.15 billion by 2034, representing a compound annual growth rate of 24.26%. More: Crypto Exchange Market

  • Technical Readiness
Do you have a public GitHub repository with an MVP or proof of concept deployed? We’d also like to understand the status of smart contract development and integration with cross-chain bridges.

I do not have MVP, MVP is actually a product at the beginning, I do not have one.

  • Key Metrics & KPIs
Please provide target metrics such as expected TVL, daily swap volume, number of active users, and anticipated ASTR token utility over the first 3–6 months.

I decided to share the idea on Astar forum, because firstly I want to delliver my product for Astar ecosystem and then propagate. At the beginning I target to $100k daily volume transaction.

  • Community Engagement Plan
How do you plan to keep the Astar community involved? Could you outline your schedule for AMAs, dev updates, educational content, and bug bounty programs?

The proposal is just first step to ask Astar community. I am going to write backend in Rust language and plan to create a lot of educational content.

  • Project Team & Capacity
Given your past experience and the unfortunate accident you mentioned, can you confirm your current availability and team capacity to deliver on the roadmap?

I am the team. Currently with AI tools I do believe that I am able to deliver the solution and reach $100k of daily volumen/transfering capital.

  • Economic Sustainability
What is your revenue model, projected monthly costs, and timeline for becoming financially sustainable without continuous reliance on dApp staking incentives?

Good question. I plan earn around 0.5%-2% for every transfer so when I reach $100k of daily transaction I should be able to have stable business - working of course on expansion my services. I observe my competition and I see they have focused on ETH/SOL pairs, I want to focus on ASTR/ETH and then stablecoins and BTC.

  • Roadmap & Milestones
Could you provide a more granular roadmap with clear deliverables and milestones linked to funding release schedules?

From technical point of view I need around two months to deliver frontend and around two months to deliver basic backend for the service. I will be releasing the project as often as possible. I do not any funding now so I am not able to write so hypothetically. I just observed that Ethereum and Solana has strong user base with non-KYC exchanges, Astar and Polkadot does not have and that is why my proposition to add value. According to the data there is a room for such service Crypto Exchange Market.

  • Marketing Strategy
Please share details on your marketing plan, partnerships, and expected budget for community growth and user acquisition.

My marketing plan is to create a lot of content while I build the product - technical content. I am already sharing a posts on LinkedIn regarding technical posts. I want to build everything like boostraping, but on solid ground - I have quite wide network on LinkedIn and know a few influencers personally - but before that I need strong product.

  • Governance & Token Utility
How will governance participation be structured for ASTR stakers? What mechanisms ensure transparency and user control over fees and liquidity?

I am going to report transactions publicly, I am not going to create new token, the service just adds value to Astar ecosystem. Liquidity I am going to have from centralized exchanges.

Thank you for the information. This really helps me see a clearer picture of the project. However, may I ask a bit more? In terms of user-friendliness, that’s good and I agree with it. But given our habits - that we tend to use the same old things, including our trading behaviors on the same old CEX - how does the team view this point? =)

That is a good question, straight to the point. I want to deliver that works more simpler. You do not need to sign up, go through security steps, then find your pair etc. etc. You just select pair A, pair B, type address where you want funds and that is it. Simpler, faster and more efficient.

I’m very pleased. Anyway, thank you for the answer. This has given me much more knowledge and understanding of the project. In terms of the product, I already have confidence in the team. And regarding marketing or communication, what plans does the team have? In case we might be able to support each other in one way or another. =)

I am going to produce technical tips in the forum of tutorials, create social media like Twitter/X and I am thinking about Discord channel but nt sure in which form - generally I am going to build in public and be active in local crypto community in Poland - I already have some group that follows me.
After first big step implemented (ETH <->ASTR exchange) I will prepare and show how easy my product is in the form of videos in social media.
