Hey @BoomBLB, i may step in to answer this question. Its not that no Degen has been bridged. People did bridge their Degens, but its true that not as many as we hoped bridged. This has several reasons. One of them being Holders feel more confident staying on Astar EVM as it is not attractive enough for them to bridge to soneium. We did several incentive programs and tried to make it as attractive as possible, but the DeFi-state of Soneium is not catching our holders. We had talks with several dapps to include Degens with special perks, but most conversations vanished as progress of Soneium DeFi slowed down tremendously and we can just marginally influence this. We hope that our marketplace will help lower the barrier and we see more NFTs being bridged, yet its a very subjective decision from each holder. If you have any ideas we are always open to listen to them and try to make them work.
We are also adapting with our Daycare platform (the NFT-Staking) which should put some pressure on holders interacting more actively which hopefully also increases bridging activity. So we did several things and are still tackling this problem, but it seems that Sonieum itself is not attractive enough for people to move their NFTs.
We have not heard a lot from SFY Labs.
We have four smart contracts for the Age of Chronos. All of them are on Astar.
We need the smart contracts on Soneium to create and test the bridge.
I am not sure when we will have these Soneium contracts.
Also, our part is designated as the fourth milestone in the project.
Right now, only the first milestone has been approved by the community, and we don’t know whether or when milestones 2 and 3 will be approved and funded.
We will only be able to start working on this after the smart contracts are deployed.
I suggest you reach out to SFY Labs directly to ask about the timelines for the following milestones and the smart contracts.
I think that this is a very candid analysis of the situation. @PolkaWarrior He is probably much more versed with the DeFi challenges of Soneium than I am, but this makes sense.
We also tried to influence AD holders to migrate to Soneium by contributing UGC funds to the wallet that pays for the bridging fees.
Yes, bridging is free at this point.
And also creating and deploying the VRF raffle mechanism on Soneium. Users receive random $TLPT rewards that they can stake on Soneium.
We had some participation. People are staking and gaining tokens.
We also tried to include the AD holders in a Soneium Campaign, but Soneium insisted on having at least 1000 holders, and we are far from that number.
In conversation with AD role holders, it became apparent to us that the chances of getting 1000 people to bridge are probably slim to none, and we could not get the campaign going.
If other members of the forum have ideas we can try together, I am willing to listen.
To be honest, there are easier things than running a large DAO—especially with limited resources. That’s exactly why focus matters.
From the my own perspective, the main issue is not bridging. It’s utility.
Some past initiatives did not achieve sustainable impact for AD. For example, Algem has shut down operations, so the previous boost for AD holders is no longer active on Soneium. Some game integration ideas on Soneium also didn’t progress as expected.
Before motivating more users to bridge to Soneium, we need to do our homework and execute the roadmap step by step:
Daycare / Staking: Technically ready to launch and planned for the next dApp staking cycle. This will help identify active vs. inactive NFTs.
Marketplace: Enables entry and exit and restores liquidity. ~80% completed.
Voting & Governance: Gives NFTs a clear, ongoing role. Currently open.
We also have an internal idea that fits Soneium very well, but there is still significant work ahead—and it’s only shared within the AD core team for now. I can share the idea/prototype via private DM.
Once these fundamentals are in place, real utility exists—and bridging will follow naturally.
We continued our weekly $TLPT staking cycles and are providing staking rewards to Astar Degens members who are participating.
Unfortunately, there were no bridging events in the last month. So, no new AD members joined Soneium.
We know that there was an issue with the IPFS file pinning to the chain, and the ADs lost their traits for a few days. The issue was resolved, and the ADs NFTs are presented correctly on Opensea.
Our team provided a diagnosis that might have helped @Jonas1 to resolve the situation.
I am sure that he would have found the solution on his own.
We could not get the Soneium Campaign to run because there are not enough AD holders on Soneium.
We did not receive the Soneium contracts from the Age of Chronos team, so we could not do additional work on their bridge.
That’s it from our end.
We would love to do more with Astar. We need the community to participate more so we can do more for it.
I want to take this opportunity, again, to thank Astar for its support and also mention that the bridging fees contract still has quite a bit of ASTR in it, and holders who decide to bridge now will not need to pay the bridge fee.
I would like to better understand NFT bridges, so I’d like to ask: what is the real, tangible value they provide to our ecosystem? What is the next stage for your project? If a game on Astar wanted to establish a strong connection with Soneium by sending and receiving assets, do you have the infrastructure in place to support that?
So far, your reports have been mostly text-based. I would need you to provide code links, on-chain transactions, addresses controlled by your team, and anything else that allows us to properly verify your work, as at this point it is not as tangible as described.
From my perspective, NFT Bridges absolutely fall under infrastructure and are a key link for future projects between Astar and Soneium.
They also allow us to bridge projects from Base (and in the future other chains?)
Have a look at NFTs on Ethereum - they are all popping off. 2026 could be a big year for NFT technology.
From reading the forum, they have developed a bridge for Degens and are awaiting output from Sfy to continue development there.
Hopefully in the future we can attract more NFT projects to Astar as i feel like NFT Bridges offer a unique value proposition, but need collaboration with other projects in order for us to fully unlock the potential value.
In my personal ranking for teams - they are firmly A+ tier.
We have the infrastructure to move NFT/Gaming assets from Astar to Soneium.
All we need from a community that wants to bridge is the smart contract on both chains, the JSON file, and IPFS/Pinata instance.
Given these, we can put up a bridge quickly, using the infrastructure we already built on Astar and Soneium.
To yor question of what is the real, tangible value we provide to our ecosystem?
I want to remind you that it was Astar who asked us to create the bridge for the Astar Degens because you wanted to migrate the collection to Soneium.
We agreed to build the bridge without getting paid, because we were assured that there would be a lot of traffic and we could recoup our investment and make some money on the process.
This definitely did not happen.
You can look at @PolkaWarrior reasoning why the ADs are not bridging to Soneium.
Eventhough we contributed 50% from the UGC grant for a few months to fund the wallet that pays the bridging fees.
The AD DAO committed to paying all of the bridging fees to encourage the holders to move to Soneium.
The DAO was worried that if there woulf be a lot of activity it would become expensive for the DAO treasury to support a mass migration. So, we gave back 50% of the ASTR from our UGC grant to support the DAO.
Right now there are more than 64557 ASTR inthe refund contract that are not used by the community.
Up till now NO bridging event was paid by a user OR the DAO. NFT Bridges paid for everything.
We created an event to launch the bridge. Astar Soneium and Chainlink participated in the event.
We submitted a proposal to Soneium to add the AD bridging to their monthly campaign and provide incentives to users who bridge.
Soneium demanded that the minimum number of AD on Soneium would be one thousand, before thay do anything to promote the collection.
The DAO management does not beleive that they can get to this number of holders on Soneium under the existing market conditions.
As far as I am concerned, we ave done everything that we could do to support the Ads and Astar.
Great @ilan, thank you for your response and for the context provided. I acknowledge the situation and applaud your contributions to the ecosystem.
Astar has adopted a new direction under Maarten’s leadership, where our ecosystem is now focused on products. This is precisely where I would love to see the support of NFT Bridges, as there is a great deal we can do in the future with the infrastructure you have developed.
I would be happy to identify points of synergy between you and the Astar Foundation. Please feel free to reach out to me regarding any new initiatives you would like to implement.
Thank you @Juminstock
I appreciate the sentiment.
We got some news from Soneium yesterday that has significant ramifications for Astar’s movement towards Soneium.
We are preparing a solution that can work for the overall Astar community, not only for the Astar Degens.
I will try to finalize it today and send it to you in a private message.
Hi, @SimonB
We are not seeing any staking fees in the portal page.
Is this a voting period? Or, is there an issue with the staking mechanism?
Can you check this for us?
@ilan, no changes have been made to your UCG staking grant, and we are still within the Build&Earn subperiod.
If you need support regarding this issue, I invite you to join us on the Astar Discord Server, as this forum thread is not the right place for support but rather for discussion related to your UCG slot.
I believe that this would be our last report for the grant.
Thank you for the support.
There were two Astar Degens transactions on the bridge last month.
The staking platform for $TLPT is operational, and users can stake the $TLPT they received on our VRF raffle on this URL: https://onchainbridges.com/staking/stake
@Juminstock put us in touch with the Aradia project, again. We had some discussions with them in the past that did not lead to any results.
We had a meeting, and we are integrating the 18 NFT collections they have on Testnet into the bridge.
Aradia will need to get in touch with the creators, ask them if they are interested in launching on Soneium as well as Astar, and if so, we will work with Aradia and the collections to create a large migration event that might fit Soneium’s criteria for inclusion in their monthly marketing campaign.
We agreed to provide Aradia with our “Bridge as an iFrame” implementation, so users can bridge without leaving the Aradia UI.
We are building infrastructure for the RWA market to enable cross-chain RWA offerings.
We can discuss it if Astar is interested in participating in this fast-growing DeFi market segment.
