[Offtopic]Potential Collapse of Bitcoin Due to Quantum Computers

As quantum computing advances, Bitcoin will be forced to adopt post-quantum cryptographic measures, which will likely require a hard fork.
The key difference from the Bitcoin Cash hard fork is that if you do not migrate to the post-quantum-protected Bitcoin chain, your Bitcoin could be stolen.

Many believe that this migration would not require any user action, but among my fellow engineers, we believe user action will be essential.
This is because Bitcoin’s very design prohibits anyone other than the user from operating their tokens.

When a Bitcoin transaction is made, the public key is exposed.
Once exposed, a quantum computer could derive the corresponding private key, allowing cybercriminals to steal the Bitcoin.

In other words, Bitcoin would become a chain where normal transactions can no longer be performed safely.

Currently, many users simply store Bitcoin as “digital gold,” but can Bitcoin implement proper quantum computer protection while still protecting users who are unfamiliar with web3 operations?

Ah — I’m glad Astar is part of the Polkadot ecosystem! No hard fork required! lol

@AstarPunks Thank you for opening up these discussion points.

However, the forum is not the best place for this. For off-topic subjects, you can use our Discord server, which you’re already a part of. There, you can have more fluid conversations with other community members and post about different topics.

Let’s keep forum discussions focused on Astar and Soneium.

Thank you very much!

Thank you, as always, for your guidance.

As you mentioned, while it was not a clear violation of the community rules, it also does not appear to have been a recommended topic of discussion.

I also reflect on the fact that the title of this post was not appropriate.

However, I am enthusiastic about this discussion because I believe that debating the usefulness of the Polkadot and the fundamental issues of other chains is valuable for considering the future direction of Astar.

I have already been having this discussion in the Japanese channel on Discord, but I have found through experience that it is not the most suitable place for such discussions.
Some people are even calling this discussion a fairy tale in Japanese channel.
It even escalates into hate from there — can you believe it? lol

If there is an opportunity, I would like to continue this conversation in a channel like general or general-builder.

Thank you very much!

Oh, there’s one more thing.
When I was trying to have a discussion on Discord and sent a long message, I was banned from Discord.
So when I asked how many characters I could send, I didn’t get a clear answer.

It seems like Astar’s Discord isn’t really suitable for discussion after all.

Hello @AstarPunks!

The maximum number of characters you can send in a single message in a Discord text channel is 2,000 charactersa fairly generous amount.

You were not banned from the server for having long conversations; that’s not true.

The Astar server, like any other, works best for fluid and interactive conversations. In future discussions there, I recommend shortening your messages to avoid exceeding the character limit, which, by the way, is a Discord rule, not an Astar rule.

I see…
So, I guess there was a different reason why I was banned.
Around the same time, I tried to post an article from Medium to discuss it, but I couldn’t.
Agent told me that if I deleted the first “h” from “https” before posting, I could post it on Discord,
but when I actually tried that, I got banned. lol

I’ll be more careful not to get banned in the future. lol

As you suggested, I would like to hold this discussion on discord.
Thank you for clarifying all my concerns!
