After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to sunset the Bluez.App.
While our team has worked tirelessly to create a NFT community-driven marketplace, the Astar NFT ecosystem has not achieved the traction needed to justify the ongoing server and operational costs. From a business perspective, continuing operations is no longer sustainable.
Key Points:
Rationale for Sunsetting Bluez
Insufficient user activity and ecosystem growth to sustain operations.
High server and maintenance costs with limited returns.
Focus on reallocating resources to other promising initiatives within the Astar ecosystem.
Transparency and Integrity
We would like to emphasize that Bluez has never charged any trading fees, team NFT sales, conducted any private or public sale, or engaged in any activity that could be construed as profiting from the community!
This decision is based purely on the sustainability challenges of the current market and not on any actions that would harm our community’s trust.
Timeline
We propose to sunset Bluez within the next two weeks.
Users will be provided clear guidance on completing transactions and withdrawing any assets from the platform.
Community Input
We value your input and would like to hear your thoughts on this decision.
Our goal is to ensure a smooth transition and maintain trust within the Astar community.
Your feedback is essential to us, and we encourage you to share your perspectives. We remain committed to supporting the Astar ecosystem and will continue to explore innovative projects that align with the network’s vision.
Thanks! It’s great to see such a noble attitude from teams who are building on Astar.
Market is difficult and getting traction, users and a viable and profitable product is really hard. Thanks for building and trying to deliver the best app you could.
I appreciate the transparency with the Astar community.
Since Bluez is a secondary trading platform for NFT, I think it falls into a category that is relatively easy to withdraw from. We respect your intentions.
Thank you for the proposal. After reading it, I feel sad because bluez was one of the few NFT marketplaces, and I understand the situation that the team faced. I hope that someday we’ll have the chance to use such a good project again. Thank you very much.
@Matt, you’re truly one of the best people in Astar, and it’s really sad to see you go. We’ll be sure to carry the torch once we’ve achieved our initial milestones. Wishing you all the best in your future endeavors, and thank you for everything!
Thanks a lot for creating your proposal and being transparent towards the Astar community. Seems you have huge respect in the community @Matt and based on what I have seen, you are working on other great things as well to support ASTR!
I know this is not a goodbye but looking for better things to build to support the Astar community!
I would recommend not to wait to long to start your proposal on the governance platform because you still need to go through the public proposal phase and voting. Best to start your public proposal as soon as possible.
Thank you for your transparency and integrity in addressing the challenges with Bluez.App. While I understand the decision to sunset the platform, I’d like to propose an alternative that might help preserve its value: integrating NFT support on Soneium via Bluez.
This pivot could require minimal platform adjustments while capitalizing on Soneium’s potentially more active and engaged NFT ecosystem. By reducing operational risks and tapping into a thriving market, this shift could pave the way for profitability. Additionally, it could foster stronger synergies between Astar and Soneium, unlocking new opportunities for both ecosystems to grow.
I deeply appreciate everything you’ve done for the Astar ecosystem and respect the difficult decision to sunset Bluez. That said, if there’s a viable path to keeping the platform alive while addressing its current challenges, it would undoubtedly be the most desirable outcome.
Thank you all for your thoughtful responses! While it’s bittersweet, we are excited about the new journey ahead with Soneium. Sometimes, the end of one chapter is the beginning of another.
Oh, it’s unfortunate news. I like Bluez, and never charged a fee either. How many years was it going for? Hopefully something bigger and better to come from the team.
