SFY Labs - UCG Program Application (Second round)

Hi @SFY_Labs, any updates here?

Hi everyone, apologies for the delay. Unfortunately, I had a health issue that kept me away for a few weeks, and as the community manager I wasn’t able to post here on the forum during that time. However, as outlined in our plan, the work was carried out by the SFY team, who were waiting for me to formalize this update.
I’m now fully back and ready to move forward.

As agreed, the first month was focused on designing the dungeons and, more specifically, the gameplay mechanics of each level.
Our work mainly involved designing the maps and configuring enemies, items, traps, and level endings.

In addition, we created a file that groups enemy stat increases based on a custom scaling algorithm. This was designed to ensure balanced and progressively complex gameplay, allowing players to reach the final stages without breaking difficulty curves. This phase was particularly challenging, as we needed to test—although not yet with the new graphics, which will be integrated in the next milestones—that each level was mathematically achievable based on the items crafted by users and the player’s progression level.

We can publicly share a folder that contains:

  • A CSV file with all enemy values, including their variants, covering both standard enemies and bosses. This file can only be shared in full and does not provide any pre-game advantage.

  • Screenshots of certain level sections, also created in CSV format. Par of screen will be hided. There are important references that cannot be read by users.

  • A video demonstration showing how one of these levels is interpreted in-game, to give you a clear view of what has been accomplished over the past month.

Please let us know if it’s ok. We apologize for the six-day delay; there was an unexpected emergency. That said, we have consistently delivered milestones ahead of schedule, and we hope this delay will be understood.

If you need anything further, we’re always here to help. @Juminstock

Hi @SFY_Labs

Please public this folder so the milestone can be evaluated. Thank you

Edit: Are all files already present in this folder?

It’s already public. Anyone can access with the link, please check. All the file are present. I have explained all. It may seem like a small thing, but it’s entirely handcrafted. The placement of all the components and the creation of the structure are the most complex aspects. Creating the increasing value algorithm, which, unlike the levels, is completely unveiled, is equally complex because it can’t benefit players at this stage. But these are calculations we had to do first.

Hi @SFY_Labs team,

This is a friendly reminder that your 2nd UCG report is scheduled for 11 January.

Please make sure to publish the report in the forum around that date to stay aligned with the UCG program requirements.

Thank you for your cooperation.

ACC Notice – UCG Review and Delisting Decision

Hello @SFY_Labs team,

as part of the ongoing oversight of the Unstoppable Community Grants (UCG) program, the Astar Community Council (ACC) regularly reviews funded projects to ensure alignment with program expectations, active development, and responsible use of community resources.

Following an extended review of SFY’s participation in the UCG program, the ACC has identified multiple objective, verifiable, and cumulative issues that indicate the project no longer meets the minimum requirements to remain in the UCG program.

The ACC’s assessment is based on the following points:

1. Reporting obligations

SFY has shown recurring issues with reporting obligations.

During the previous UCG cycle (June–October 2025):

  • the June and July reports were not submitted
  • the subsequent reports were submitted only in September 2025, in a very condensed and limited form, lacking sufficient detail to properly assess progress

In the current UCG cycle:

  • the second report has not been submitted, and no response or clarification has been provided despite sufficient time and reminders

Taken together, this demonstrates a pattern of missing or insufficient reporting, which prevents proper monitoring and accountability under the UCG program.

2. Lack of onchain activity

No meaningful onchain activity has been observed on the addresses shared by the team during the UCG application and follow-up discussions.

Reference (addresses provided by SFY):

Additionally, no relevant development activity has been observed in the project’s public repositories:

3. Absence of development progress toward Astar integration

The integration of Astar into the game was a core commitment of the UCG proposal. A usable version of the game on Astar was expected by the end of the UCG period.

By the second month, clear and verifiable signs of progress toward this integration should have been visible. However, no such progress has been demonstrated through onchain activity, repositories, or shared development updates.

4. Unfulfilled ecosystem collaboration commitments

As stated during the direct UCG application, SFY committed to sharing specific assets with NFT Bridges to enable the creation of the first bridge between Astar and Soneium, with the goal of supporting a future Soneium version of the game.

To date, these assets have not been delivered, and the collaboration has not progressed.

5. Lack of public and community engagement

SFY’s official social media channels have shown no activity since October of last year, indicating a prolonged absence of communication and engagement with the community.

6. Shift of primary focus toward external initiatives (SimplyChain)

The ACC also notes that SFY is currently pursuing SimplyChain, a separate initiative for which the team has requested funding from the Polkadot Treasury (referendum #1822).

While working on multiple initiatives is not inherently an issue, this funding request and apparent strategic focus further reinforce the concerns outlined above, particularly in light of:

  • the absence of measurable progress on Astar-related deliverables
  • the lack of onchain and development activity tied to the UCG objectives
  • the unfulfilled commitments made within the Astar ecosystem

Taken together, these elements indicate a clear shift in priority away from Astar, which is incompatible with the expectations of sustained focus and execution required under the UCG program.

Taken individually, each of these points raises concerns. Considered together, they demonstrate a pattern of insufficient execution, engagement, and follow-through, which is not aligned with the objectives and standards of the UCG program.

For these reasons, and in line with the ACC’s responsibility to ensure the effective and responsible management of the Community Treasury, the Council has decided to proceed with the delisting of SFY from the UCG program, effective immediately.

This decision is based solely on the project’s performance and alignment with UCG expectations and does not constitute a judgment on the team itself.

Hello everyone.

New UCG milestone:
Sfy worked with developer Unity to integrate the graphics they created into the game, tested and updated characters, enemies, and game environments.

In 30 days of work:

We created the base character values for the free mint (4000 json - enumerate mint)
We created part of the final collection of in-game items for the Astar dungeon.
We created and integrated the new sounds.
We created and tested the new menu setting page.
We created and deployed the contracts for the in-game items/character parts. Total: 16.

We have one week of vacation in December during which we do not work and the studio is closed, as has been the case every year for the past 15 years. This resulted in the most recent delay of approximately one week.

Last month, the work had already been completed, as demonstrated, but unfortunately I, as the community manager, was absent due to health issues. This caused a total delay of about two weeks across the two milestones.

We worked for three weeks, from December 11 to January 11, and only today were we able to deliver the milestone.

UCG support in dollars also dropped to one third of what it was initially, but we did not complain about this and my team continued working regardless.

If missing the December 11 and January 11 deadlines automatically results in delisting, we accept that. However, in both cases we missed the delivery date by only one week and clearly explained the reasons. This should not be serious enough to justify a delisting.

We do not like playing games by demonstrating things that have not yet been completed.

That said,

All the other points you raised, Simone, are truly controversial.

SimplyChain is a project my team has been working on for a long time. We have even discussed it directly with astar-soneium himself, and I do not see why this should be an issue. We have not changed direction or objectives; we have been working on both the game and SimplyChain for over a year. Everything has been transparent. Just as you have always told us not to mix UCG with the grant, I am now asking you the same, Simone.

As I mentioned, my team also works on Web2. We have been involved in many other activities recently. Does that mean our focus has shifted? I do not think so. Once again, this was openly discussed with the Soneium team months ago.

The agreement with NFT Bridge concerns the direct grant.
As you have repeatedly specified, the grant is never connected to UCG. I do not understand why it is being mentioned or included in the milestone discussion. NFT Bridge, in the current development phase (milestones 1 and 2 of the game), is not involved in our interactions because, as planned, we must wait until the end of the third milestone to work with them.

We are honestly exhausted from having to repeat this: the proposal costs, the effort required to secure support, and the continuous disputes over the grant, all while not being paid. Nevertheless, by submitting the work early, the SFY team took responsibility for it. NFT Bridge will collaborate starting from milestone 4 and is not connected to SFY’s current work. UCG and NFT Bridge are in no way associated with Age of Chronos. We made this clear to both you and them during the proposal phase, and the process is straightforward: complete the game, then migrate game characters to Soneium via NFT Bridge. As specified by the core team, there is no guarantee of support for grant proposals 2, 3, and 4.

We have already informed them several times that if we do not complete milestone 3, we will not be able to integrate the contracts with Soneium. There is still a substantial amount of work to be done on the Unity side, which we are actively progressing.

Regarding social interaction on X: until the game is ready, it will not be available for Astar, and this has no connection to UCG. We are still in development.

We spoke with our Unity developer and were prepared to release the game ahead of the UCG deadlines by launching 10 levels with the Genesis story, followed by integrating the remaining 30 levels with the new graphics. We intended to share this with you in the coming days, after delivering the current UCG milestone.

The purpose was to gather real user feedback, essentially a beta phase, to obtain real metrics and interactions that we would then personally use to apply for the second grant, as requested by the core team.

In conclusion, SFY is delivering the third milestone today, one week late, and the previous milestone was also delivered late.
This is a fact.

Please make your decision according to the rules, but do not introduce unrelated matters into the discussion.

Everything else you mentioned is completely off-topic, unrelated, and, especially in light of what you have written in the past, should not even be part of this discussion.

You asked us not to post on the forum and to focus on development, and that is exactly what we are doing.

Hello @SFY_Labs,

We are fully aware that each company/project has its own timelines, which are respectable and understandable in any context. However, you must keep in mind that you had a commitment with the Astar Collective, as a portion of the Community Treasury funds were allocated to your dApp so that you could earn rewards.

I want to make it very clear that the delayed delivery was not the only reason for your delisting from the UCG program, and soon from dApp Staking, but rather multiple points outlined above.

Your delisting from the UCG program has already been approved by the UCG: Community Treasury: Remove SFY Labs from UCG Program

With this, our conversation in this thread concludes, and I will proceed to close it.
