Today we want to present you some of our bits we have been working on.
GameDAO Town is a lightweight environment that presents dApp staking and other on-chain interactions in a gamified way, alongside mini-games and means of community interaction. Based on community feedback and support, we aim to expand its scope to reach a broader audience within the Astar and Soneium ecosystems.
Who is it For?
Astar dApp Staking Participants: Users who actively participate in staking within Astar’s ecosystem.
Gaming and Entertainment dApps: Teams building within the Astar and Soneium ecosystem.
Astar $ASTR Token Holders: Individuals holding $ASTR who seek engaging ways to interact with their assets.
GameDAO $GAME Token Holders: Community members with an interest in using or staking $GAME tokens.
Governance Participants: Stakeholders engaged in decision-making processes within the ecosystem.
General Community: Anyone curious about gaming, GameDAO, or the Astar ecosystem.
Scope
The proposal seeks to:
Create a gamified environment where dApp stakers can socialize and interact with Astar network. Initially, this will focus on GameDAO but has the potential to scale to other dApps in Astar and Soneium based on community interest:
Gaming teams and dApps rewarding their users with their native token or memberships within GameDAO.
Teams and dApps gamify their incentives and participation.
Engaging with existing and new users to participate in native mini games (snowball fight, hide and seek,…) and increasing return rates through competitions, leaderboards, reward drops.
Foster interactions that enable users to:
Stake $ASTR and claim staking rewards in $ASTR and $GAME.
Participate in unique reward mechanisms, such as airdrops from gaming projects.
Allow dApps within the ecosystem to claim customizable spaces (e.g., rooms, buildings, plots or other interactive environments).
Provide dApps with tools to implement their own reward mechanisms, encouraging users to discover, interact, and engage across the broader Astar and Soneium ecosystems.
Educate newbies about the vision and mission of Astar, Soneium, GameDAO and ecosystem projects, enabling marketing to a more game oriented community.
Interaction Features
Initial Features:
Integration with GameDAO’s dApp for staking $ASTR.
Distribution of staking rewards in $ASTR and $GAME.
Potential for airdropped rewards from game projects.
Future Expansion:
Enable other dApps to claim spaces (Scope 3.) within GameDAO Town.
Support custom reward mechanics, fostering user participation across the ecosystem.
Next Steps
We would like to gather the opinions of fellow community members and builders on how to best approach this build. Not only do we see it as a viable way to gather gaming dApps and work/build on a gamified interface together, but also gauge the interest from the community of users and stakers on how they may see this being developed.
We want to create and expand it alongside you: If there is enough interest, to collaborate and ideate, we would like to find out how to apply for funding as we also want to respect the time and efforts of the developers.
One approach we are curious about is tipping and retroactive funding. Any comments towards this would be appreciated as we would only want to spend time and resources on something that community and builders really want.
I think this is a very cool play on dappstaking, love the social element and how seamless / smooth it runs.
I could imagine taking this another step further with visualizing how the staked ASTR could turn into “production” of gaming items, maybe symbolized by a toy factory (where there is a farm now).
Could we theoretically include more Astar / Soneium gaming projects in the town and make it possible to go into the houses where you can learn more about the project, maybe a couple more minigames / leaderboards?
I would like to claim the spot for #1 in total snowballs thrown :D.
The excitement lies in this very innovative proposal, which can lead to huge increases in the engagement of the Astar and Soneium ecosystems. In general, GameDAO Town represents a really interesting way of attracting both new and existing users by gamifying the staking mechanism of dApps and creating more interactive environments for them. There were several mini-games, especially designed dApp spaces, and reward mechanisms-invitingly constructed, taking care of community building and user retention. The scalability addition to support other dApps within the ecosystem can add strength to the bonding of the ecosystem. Generally speaking, it’s great to see community feedback and collaborative development in focus.
How are you going to align the gamified elements and reward mechanisms with the broader goals of the Astar ecosystem while sustaining a balanced and sustainable token economy?
I think there are a couple of ways, how this can work.
My favoured approach would be, to make it as autonomous as possible, therefore community governed and funded. Projects should be able to either get sponsored landplots (UCG?) or simply rent or buy, or even resell them.
Under the hood, projects need to formalise their reward mechanics, which means for example to provide a sound calculation based on inputs resulting in an output factor. This formula could be a token itself or a value attached to a DAO contract. Like this the respective community / sub dao can govern either themselves or through an agent, at what rate a reward would take place and how, e.g. NFT, native token, etc.
We are currently working on a simple tool for this, which we call “Stakeboard” which we have built for ourselves, but we will also release into the public (tba), which provides more transparency for dApp Staking projects and their supporters, showing stakers and their respective rewards.
We have tried this before with “Battlepass”, where we tokenised rewards based on oracles. For now, the Stakeboard only works for GameDAO.
It would be up to the projects to establish mechanics like reward formulae, and therefore we could separate the economic incentive of a project and keep building and owning the framework as a common good.
Like @0xRamz, I am a faithful believer that video games can generate onboarding and high adoption of technologies and generate new consumer trends, this combined with Astar and the use of $ASTR is a brilliant strategy for me. I’ve been reading a bit about the current state of game DAO and its progress, it seems really significant to me.
Now, I ask you @2075, how could we give more push to this project? How could we give them more exposure? Maybe Twitter Spaces with @DrCAO to generate traction in their community and others?
I did find the game smooth and enjoyed the atmosphere. Throwing snowballs is fun, especially if you can chat about it. So, from a gameplay perspective I enjoy this overall.
Also there is a clear way to join dApp staking within the game already, though I don’t see a direct connection between onchain tasks and the game, yet. I understand that it is tricky to figure this out early and may not be the initial goal.
There also is an opportunity for this to gain traction as part of Astar since many games and dApps are growing quickly right now.
My overall feeling is that by working with the right ecosystem projects and developing an addictive gaming element this could bring a positive benefit for the ecosystem. Still early days right now.
Thanks for the forum post and bringing this to the community here.
