[Main Council Treasury Request] Proposal: Age of Chronos – Milestone 1 Funding

Its quite timely that Astar announced the burndrop - a cross chain opportunity for Astar holders to gain exposure to Startale ecosystems.

This fits the theme of what Sfy and NFT Bridges plan to build - this isn’t just a game - this is cross chain infrastructure.

Base - Astar - Soneium path is already confirmed.

This game / infrastructure will serve as inspiration for other teams to come and build here.

This is a truly unique 1 of 1 solution being offered here - much like the stakedrop and lockdrop before that.

Things are looking up for Astar at present - would love to see this proposal get support so that the teams can kick on from here with momentum.

If this proposal gets rejected we are losing a major opportunity for innovation, and possibly future potential builders who may be attracted by this functionality, and who may be able to create other cross chain solutions between Astar and Startale.

There is just too many synergies here to ignore imo

Good morning, it’s been almost a month, and we haven’t received any response from either the community council or the main council. @Community_Council @Maarten @Gaius_sama
We understand this is a busy time, but is it possible to be considered?

Hi, everyone.
I just wanted to touch base and see what is happening with the request.
We at NFT Bridges need to make decisions soon on what we will be working on in the next few months.
There are several opportunities available, and we need to decide where to allocate our developers’ time.
We really enjoy working with the Astar community. Most Chains do not have the transparency and democracy that Astar provides. We prefer to work with Astar again and collaborate with @SFY_Labs if it is possible.

I understand that everyone is very busy at this time.
Nevertheless, it would be good to get some clarity, one way or the other.

Thanks again for your consideration, and have a great weekend, everyone. :folded_hands:

Hi @Mouthmouth68 @Juminstock

If possible, can a status update be provided here please?

Just looking for an update if discussions are progressing as the teams are in the dark right now.

Thanks

Good morning, is it possible to have an answer?
@Community_Council @Juminstock @Maarten @Gaius_sama

Hi there,

Thanks for your patience on this proposal and sharing the detailed milestone documentation.

I’ve reviewed the content and verified the on-chain contracts for the NFTs and associated RMRK components, it’s clear that Milestone 1 was technically delivered with visible, verifiable work.

From my side, I’m open to considering this Milestone 1 payment as a valid retroactive grant. I’ll bring it to the other Main Council members for formal evaluation so the review process can begin and your work can move forward.

That said, I’d like to raise a few important points before we proceed further:

:puzzle_piece: 1. Activity and Follow-up

It’s been about a month since this discussion opened, and there hasn’t been much movement since.
Could you share what has happened during this time, any updates on gameplay integration, additional development, testing progress, or preparations for the next milestone?

Understanding what you’ve accomplished since the initial submission will help the Council gauge ongoing momentum.

:video_game: 2. Playability & On-Chain Deployment

The contract work is a solid foundation, but the Council will only be able to fully assess quality, performance, and player experience once the game is live or at least playable on Astar.
Please clarify your expected timeline for a public or closed testing release so we can plan evaluation accordingly.

:chart_increasing: 3. Go-to-Market, Business Model & Adoption Metrics

Before we can support future milestones, we’ll need clearer visibility on:

  • Go-to-Market strategy – how do you plan to attract and onboard players, through marketing, partnerships, or a launch plan? You mentioned the NFT Bridge community as an option, but the proposal doesn’t give much visibility into that community, its size, level of engagement, or motivation.
  • Business model – how the game will sustain itself beyond treasury grants (NFT sales, royalties, DAO revenue, or marketplace activity).
  • User acquisition & retention KPIs – measurable goals such as number of active wallets, NFTs minted, returning players, or share of NFT Bridges users joining Astar.

At the moment, these elements are not defined, which makes it difficult to evaluate the project’s ecosystem impact and long-term value to Astar.

:brain: 4. NFT Bridges Community

Since the upcoming milestones rely heavily on integration with NFT Bridges, it would help to have metrics or stats about that community:

  • Number of NFT holders
  • Current activity level or DAO participation
  • Expected onboarding target to Astar

This information will help us measure how effectively the partnership contributes to user growth.

:speech_balloon: 5. Next Steps

To summarize my position:

  • I recognize and appreciate the technical work completed for Milestone 1.
  • I’ll bring this to the other Council members for collective review and discussion on releasing the payment.
  • I encourage SFY Labs to provide a short progress update, GTM/business plan outline, and expected launch schedule to help us evaluate the broader picture before moving into Milestone 2.

Appreciate the effort put into this so far, it’s encouraging to see Astar-native gaming projects leveraging RMRK and cross-chain logic.
With stronger visibility on adoption and sustainability, this could become a solid example of a well-executed treasury-backed initiative.

Looking forward to your update and to continued collaboration.

Hi @Gaius_sama ,
Thank you for raising the point about community metrics — it gives us the opportunity to clarify NFT Bridges’ role in this proposal.

To be clear, this isn’t about the size of NFT Bridges’ community today. Our integration is intended as a proof of concept, demonstrating how external NFT communities can be bridged into Astar, provided with real gameplay utility, and linked into our DAO-driven rewards system. The value lies in building a repeatable model that can be applied to many other communities in the future.

Our current holders will benefit directly, but the ultimate outcome is an infrastructure layer that facilitates smoother onboarding for other partners. This expands Astar’s active user base, creates measurable cross-chain adoption, and positions the network as the anchor for NFT gaming. In parallel, NFT Bridges will also continue to run dApp staking campaigns, which provide another ongoing mechanism for sustaining community activity and development.

We hope this helps frame our role more clearly: not as the sole growth driver, but as the first demonstration of a broader ecosystem strategy.

Hi @Gaius_sama,
Thank you for reviewing our work so carefully and for recognizing that Milestone 1 was technically delivered with verifiable on-chain results. We’re grateful for the constructive guidance, and we’d like to address your points directly:

  1. Activity & Follow-up Since the initial submission, our main focus has been progressing from contract delivery to gameplay integration. This includes preparing Unity implementation, expanding the art pipeline, and testing contract/game interactions. While this hasn’t been as visible on-chain yet, it represents essential groundwork leading into the next milestone.

  2. Playability & Timeline Our target is to deliver a first playable version for closed community testing in Q4. This will allow early gameplay evaluation, quality checks, and feedback loops before moving into a wider public release. Having this testing phase is critical to ensuring strong player experience when the game goes live on Astar.

  3. Go-to-Market, Business Model & Adoption Metrics Our go-to-market strategy begins with integrating NFT Bridges as the first partner community. This provides a ready pipeline of engaged users while proving a repeatable model for onboarding other communities.

The game itself is free-to-play, with NFTs issued free of charge. Sustainability will come from a mix of mechanisms — including royalties on in-game items, marketplace activity, and future community-driven events and collaborations. We also expect that dApp staking campaigns will play a role in supporting long-term costs as needed.

Adoption metrics we’ll track include bridged assets, in-game participation, and retention of active wallets.

We’re confident that with the Council’s support, this framework will not only launch a playable game but also create a scalable path for bringing new communities into Astar.

It’s also important to reiterate the referendum results as a starting point for your vote.
The rules are clear, but I think that as things stand, the Astar project needs to take the community’s true will into account more than ever.

Thank you again for the detailed feedback — it helps us shape this into a stronger, more transparent proposal.

Regarding this, we are ready to work to the Milestone 2, if payment for the first milestone is guaranteed. We consider the game feasible in three months of work, which is truly a minimum amount of time. We can already coordinate with the community council members to create joint initiatives. @Juminstock

Give us the opportunity to work; you won’t regret it.

Hello,

Just one clarification, based on this post (Let's try again: Age Of Chronos proposal - #180 by SFY_Labs), Milestone 1 was delivered in early July 2025. Could you please share what you’ve been working on over the past three months?

Have there been any updates or progress on the other milestones, or any additional work completed under the UCG grant?

Or have your efforts been primarily focused on governance matters to get this proposal funded?

Thank you!

Hi @Gaius_sama,

Thanks for the clarification — happy to update here.

Over the past few months, we’ve essentially been in a holding pattern while following the UCG timeline. The UCG support has mainly gone toward compensating our developer for the work already completed, making sure we can at least maintain steady progress.

At the same time, we’ve also been in active discussions with the NFT Bridges team to map out the broader scope of what comes next, aligning the game’s infrastructure with future community integrations. This planning has been important to ensure that when we move forward, it’s done with a clear roadmap and wider ecosystem value in mind.

That said, once Milestone 1 is formally approved, we’re ready to shift gears and go full steam ahead with the next stages

Hi @Gaius_sama

I’m in regular contact with @SFY_Labs and @ilan regarding this proposal, so I’d like to add a bit of context.

When they mentioned being in a “holding pattern,” it simply means that while work on Milestone 2 has already begun, the retroactive payment for Milestone 1 is key to keeping development moving at full pace. Progress is ongoing, but with that confirmation in place, things could accelerate considerably.

At the same time, NFT Bridges are also standing by for the green light before kicking off the joint proposal we’ve mapped out together. Once Milestone 1 is formally approved, both teams are aligned and ready to move forward quickly, without delay.

@Gaius_sama , we look forward to hearing from you soon. We’ve been waiting for months.

thank you

@SFY_Labs,
After thorough discussion, the Astar Community Council has decided not to approve SFY Labs’ proposal for Community Treasury funding.

While we recognize and respect the team’s consistent effort, creativity, and visible technical progress, the Council identified several reasons why the current proposal does not align with the intended scope of the Community Treasury:

  1. Scope Misalignment

The proposal primarily focuses on infrastructure and game development, which falls under the Main Treasury’s mandate rather than the Community Treasury. The latter is designed to support marketing, events, and community engagement initiatives.

  2. Project Maturity

Although the Moonbeam version of the game is operational, the Astar deployment is not yet live, which limits our ability to evaluate ecosystem-level impact and performance on Astar. The Council considers it premature to fund milestones without a playable version or demonstrable user activity on Astar itself.

  3. Funding Structure and Amount

The requested funding (three milestones of 10,000 USD each) is considered high for the Community Treasury, given its focus and current resource allocation. Approving this level could set a precedent that may be difficult to maintain for future applicants.

  4. Ecosystem Priorities

While the Council values innovation in gaming and NFTs, current ecosystem priorities emphasize strengthening Astar’s economic and infrastructural foundations. Projects in the gaming sector should ideally demonstrate direct contributions to ecosystem growth or active community engagement on Astar.

Council’s Recommendation

The Council encourages SFY Labs to:

  • Submit a funding request to the Main Treasury, as the proposal aligns more closely with its technical and infrastructure development focus.
  • Reapply once the game is fully operational on Astar, enabling proper evaluation of its performance and user impact.
  • Consider submitting smaller, community-focused initiatives (marketing campaigns, engagement quests, or NFT reward programs) to the Community Treasury in the future.

The Astar Community Council appreciates SFY Labs’ commitment to building within the ecosystem and looks forward to following the project’s progress toward a live Astar integration.

@Community_Council

hi @Juminstock ,

@Gaius_sama is part of the main council right?

And he is reviewing for them?

This thread is titled Main Council Treasury request so hoping a new thread does not need to be opened.

Thanks

That’s right! G’ is part of the Main Council and is leading the conversation regarding their request to the Main Council.

Yes, I also don’t think it’s necessary to open another thread for this.

Thank you for replying.

It would be nice to have a vote from all members here; it would be more transparent.

Have a nice day, Juminstok.

Hi, @Gaius_sama

NFT Bridges strongly support SFY Labs’ treasury request. We’ve co-planned a rollout that can begin immediately upon approval of this dual-treasury grant. —

What this delivers,

  • Day-0 bridge integration: Astar ↔ Base movement of Age of Chronos assets, with Soneium and additional chains to follow.,

  • Reusable infrastructure: once deployed, this bridge framework can be extended to other NFT collections with minimal additional work — connecting multiple communities back into Astar.,

  • Onboarding funnel: guides, UI flows, and Discord support make the first-time experience smooth.,

  • Incentives via VRF: fair and verifiable rewards for first bridge, first play session, and early retention.,

  • Two-way design: NFTs are locked in escrow on Astar and minted on the destination chain — fully reversible at any time.,

Why this matters for Astar,

  • Strategic infrastructure: This isn’t just about one game. We’re building a cross-chain NFT and gaming rail that others can reuse, connecting Base, Soneium, and future ecosystems with Astar as the hub.,

  • Community inflow: NFT Bridges can bring communities from Base, Ape Chain and other chains. These collections are looking to sell out their inventory. Astar/SFY/Soneium, offering a cross-chain gaming experience for their communities, can potentially create a robust migration to Astar.

  • Economic alignment: DAO governance + revenue-sharing ensures that bridge growth and activity directly fund community incentives and future re-engagement on Astar.,

  • Transparency and accountability: Monthly reporting and clear metrics ensure visible delivery.,

The bigger picture,

This is a never-before-seen cross-chain solution for NFTs and gaming. With a modest investment now, we can generate momentum, attract new users, and set Astar as the starting point for future cross-chain activity. This is not a sunk cost — it is infrastructure that will pay back in on-chain activity, retained players, and a stronger, expanding Astar community.

For this to work, we will all need to cooperate, create campaigns that will incentivize collections, gamers and probably even markets to participate.
NFT Bridges is willing to do a lot of hard work and cooperate with the council, SFY, and anyone else who wants Astar to become an even more amazing place than it is now.

We thank the Council for its consideration and are ready to execute immediately.

Good morning, we’d like to add something: if the main council allows us the opportunity, once the game goes live, we’ll still be available to the community council and agents to create weekly events, dungeons, and themed rewards for the community. This proposal remains unchanged.
