Q3 2025 Contribution Report - Matt / General

This proposal requests retroactive compensation for Matt, a long-standing Astar Ecosystem Agent and Astar Bulletin Director, covering his contributions from July through September 2025.

As the General Agent for Czechia and Slovakia, I actively contributed across five core areas: Community Management, Governance Participation, Social Media Engagement, Content Creation, others. My work includes managing and growing local communities, creating and translating educational content, supporting governance initiatives, and promoting Astar’s presence on the Soneium Ethereum L2 network.

Summary of Contributions:

  • Community Management: Support community members (specifically, Q&A, advice, psychological care, etc., including handling Discord tickets - time to time thanks to the good job of the new CM and others).

  • Governance & Project Engagement: Governance participation at Astar Forum. And participating in the vote on Subsquare and Opensquare. Voting with a lesser ASTR amount, since from my perspective I don’t want to make the community like I’m biased cause I’m an agent - however I’m stating all clear and transparent usually on twitter about how I voted.

  • Social Media Engagement: Mainly on X to explain and share the latest information on Astar.

  • Content Creation: Writing articles about events within Astar and Soneium eco + CZ translations for my local community.

  • Others: Astar Bulletin article releases, twitter account and discord posts. CMC posting similar to twitter and articles (same in TAB), up to you if it’s for SM or Others section, please let me know for future, thank you!

  • BD (optional): Trying to connect the Astar team with other projects, most recently with the DMAIL team.

I will continue supporting the CZ & SK community by sharing Q&As, insights, and updates on events happening within the Astar and Soneium ecosystems. I’ll also strengthen Astar’s presence on CoinMarketCap by posting more articles and expanding our ecosystem’s visibility there.

In addition, I’ll focus on attracting more writers and readers to the Astar Bulletin, while continuing to promote and support Astar and Soneium ecosystem accounts, projects, and news.

Finally, I’ll help communicate and clarify what’s coming in Phase 2, ensuring our community fully understands the updates in a simple and clear way.

Q3 Total: 87382 ASTR

  • Basic Reward: 29127 ASTR

Summary of Comments from Community Council

You have shown a strong and consistent presence in on-chain governance, which is greatly appreciated. While the ASTR amounts used in each vote have been relatively modest, his active participation reflects a clear commitment to the ecosystem. We look forward to seeing even greater impact in future governance activities.

I will share the evaluation sheet additionally once it is ready.

Hello @Community_Council, thank you very much for your review. I just wanted to clarify two small points:

  1. It seems that three council members may have overlooked the “Others” category in my submission and given me a score of “0.” Could you please confirm if that was intentional?

  2. Regarding the GOV score: was it lowered due to my forum comments, or because of the relatively small amount of ASTR used in my voting? I only ask because several users mentioned concerns about large voting amounts being perceived as biased, so I intentionally kept my votes lower. (I believe I only missed one vote on Subsquare in total.)

Thank you again for your time and all your efforts!

Thank you again for your thoughtful engagement.

Regarding your first point: this was not an oversight. While we do have general guidelines for each category, contributions that don’t fit neatly into those definitions are placed under “Other.” Some council members may have chosen to evaluate certain activities under different categories—for example, scoring TAB-related work under “CC” instead of “Other.” As a result, your contributions were properly recognized within the overall scoring framework, even if not explicitly under “Other.”

As for your second point: I understand you may be concerned that your GOV score was lower compared to other categories. However, the factors influencing this can vary across ACC members, so it’s difficult to pinpoint a single reason. Speaking from my own perspective, forum comments are evaluated not just by quantity or frequency, but also by their substance. For instance, simple expressions of thanks, encouragement, or brief impressions may be seen as lower-engagement contributions.

Regarding voting power: I wasn’t aware of your concern about keeping vote amounts modest, but currently, Agents are expected to make active use of their ASTR holdings, especially since they receive rewards. In that context, higher voting amounts are generally encouraged.

Lastly, your overall score is by no means low. You’ve demonstrated exemplary contributions that serve as a model for other Agents. We see great potential for further growth, and we look forward to your continued involvement.

Dear Agent, I read your complaint about the onchain vote not being counted in your stipend, and I would like to express a serious concern. To Astar’s Decision Makers: including governance participation as a paid metric is questionable. Incentivizing voting works well for the general community, but makes no sense for those specifically tasked with staying updated and actively participating in the network.Especially in your role: onchain voting should be a natural duty, not an extra stipend line item. At most, in case of non-participation, the reason should be asked.I hope for an official clarification. Thank you

Thank you for your feedback.
There is certainly room for improvement in this program—it’s still less than a year since the renewal. Your valuable input will be taken into consideration as we continue refining the program moving forward.

Well, I certainly hope so. Try removing this evaluation metric—perhaps, unintentionally, you’ve found an economical way to identify who is truly interested in improving the ecosystem…
