This proposal is to vote on granting StakeCraft a grant of 188181 ASTR for providing snapshot services in Q1 and Q2 2026

This proposal is to vote on granting StakeCraft a grant of 130 726,7 ASTR for providing snapshot services in Q1 and Q2 2026.

Discussion:

TLDR:

StakeCraft has been officially providing snapshots for Astar & Shiden since Q4 2022 (snapshots for Shiden were terminated since June 2025 due to a request from the Astar Team) and continues to do so to this day, assisting collators in bringing their nodes online as quickly as possible to minimise downtime.

Proponent Address: Wj14Wp8CD8D8K58hpxbuFSTmXyFeBvjfAoJqbHjrHRsm1pN

Requested Amount: $ 241.50/month (±130,726.7 tokens at the average price of Astar, ±$0.011/Astr, according to Coingecko on the date the vote was created, to cover server costs and support).

Date: 17.01.2026

Short Description:

The snapshot service is intended for collator nodes, namely, it helps to bring the node back online in a very short time, because pruning 1000 is set.

At @bLd759 request, starting from June 1, 2023, the snapshots were switched to archive.

Background:

Hi everyone,
STAKECRAFT supported Astar since it was called Plasm Network and was chosen as one of Astar’s first collators at the beginning of 2022. We are confident in the future of Astar.

Proposal:

We want to request $2070 for Q3 & Q4 2025 ($241,5/month) in ASTR from the Astar treasury as a reward for providing our Snapshot service. We ask this amount to cover expenses on the server and its support.

Statistics of usage:

Our snapshot downloading statistics for Astar showed that the snapshots were used for the period from July 1st to January 17th:

approx. 43 times per month for Astar;

Responsibilities:

  1. We are committed to keeping the service running and updating it regularly.

  2. The address of the fund recipient: Wj14Wp8CD8D8K58hpxbuFSTmXyFeBvjfAoJqbHjrHRsm1pN

  3. There is no cancellation period from our side for running the snapshot service

  4. Snapshots are updated daily

Any ideas how many people are still using this service?

And do you have any suggestions for changes to astr collators/ecosystem?

Hey @ERC20s Have you ready our proposal? The answer is in the text…

Hello @StakeCraft

As discussed here, Shiden should be removed from StakeCraft Snapshot services starting in July 2025.

Please update your proposal accordingly to remove Shiden, keep only Astar, and revise the requested budget so the Main Council can coordinate payment for Astar only.

Thank you.

@Gaius_sama Hello!
Thank you very much for pointing out this inaccuracy — I completely forgot to remove it from the text.

Unfortunately, the text can no longer be edited now, and in order not to create multiple separate messages, I’ll clarify it here.

We will send 30% of the received amount back to the wallet from which the tokens are sent to us.

Alternatively, I can send you 30% of the initially agreed amount in advance. There is absolutely no issue on our side to do so.

I look forward to your decision.

Hi @StakeCraft

The Main Council is fine with this alternative.

After you receive the funds, you will need to return 56,454.3 ASTR (30% of 188 181) to the onchain treasury.

As a side note, please make sure to edit and update the title of your onchain treasury proposal on Subsquare:

Thank you.

Hey.
Edited. Thanks.

Hello @StakeCraft,

Thank you for the detailed proposal and for your continued support of Astar over the years.

That said, I want to flag several governance and process issues that need to be addressed before this request can move forward.

First, this is the second time an onchain treasury proposal has been submitted without waiting for the customary forum discussion period. As a reminder, all treasury requests are expected to be discussed on the forum for at least 7 days before any onchain submission, and only after the requested amount has been reviewed and confirmed by the Main Council. Skipping this step creates inconsistency and sets the wrong precedent for other contributors.

Second, as already mentioned previously, Shiden must be excluded from this request. Snapshot services for Shiden were discontinued starting July 2025, so the proposal should cover Astar only.

Third, the requested amount needs to be corrected. The governance deposit of 1,000 ASTR required to submit an onchain proposal must not be included in the requested budget. Based on the stated USD amount of 2,070 and the reference price, the correct amount is 186,486 ASTR, excluding the proposal deposit.

Governance rules apply equally to all Astar Collective contributors, and it is important that requests follow the same process to ensure fairness and transparency.

Please submit an updated forum proposal that:

  • Covers Astar only
  • Uses the correct ASTR amount excluding the 1,000 ASTR proposal deposit
  • Is discussed on the forum for the required period before any new onchain submission

Once this is done, the Main Council can review and coordinate the next steps.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

@Gaius_sama Do you want me to create a new proposal or just make adjustments?

Hello,

You can update your proposal and repost it in this discussion as a reply.

Once the discussion period is over, I will confirm that you can create the corresponding onchain proposal.

@Gaius_sama I just realized that it is possible to edit the first message, so I did it.
Given that the funding request has already been created and cannot be modified, I would like to reiterate that the excess tokens (56,454.3 ASTR + 1,000 ASTR as a proposal deposit) will be returned to the Astar Treasury wallet.

Good to see this handled cleanly on both sides → StakeCraft providing clarity on returns, and governance enforcing the process around discussion periods, scope (Astar-only), and correct amounts. These kinds of guardrails matter more as treasury usage scales and more contributors enter the ecosystem.

Snapshot infra is one of those “quiet but essential” services that people only notice when it’s missing, so getting both the ops side and the governance/process side right is important…

Hello @StakeCraft

Thank you. I am fine with your counter proposal.

As the seven day discussion period has passed, I have opened the motion to approve your treasury request.

I will ask the Main Council to vote on the motion.

As discussed, once the treasury proposal is approved and you have received the funds, you will need to refund 56,453 ASTR to the onchain treasury.
