''Astar Community Meetup: Pre-Coding'' in Turkey

UPDATE:

Dear Astar community and Astar collective members,:slightly_smiling_face:

The budget request for our event has been approved by the treasury.

As I mentioned in some forum discussions, we have decided to hold the event in the middle of next month.

Reasons: Many participants from Turkey will attend the Devconnect event in Argentina, and we will organize our event after their return. This is the best option for higher attendance. We also believe that good networking opportunities will arise with the positive news coming from Argentina.

Another reason is that my one-month military service coincides with October (mandatory by the state—no option to choose). Normally, military service lasts six months, but the state reduces the service period to one month for those who pay $6,500, so I will be doing one month. My return from military service and the end of Devconnect coincide between mid-October and the end of October, and we are considering these dates for our event.

Last year, we successfully organized an amazing event in Istanbul! Very soon, we will be organizing an even better one in Bursa.

Hello everyone :waving_hand:

Last week, we hosted an amazing Astar-focused meetup with highly engaged participants from multiple ecosystems — and it turned out to be one of our most productive community gatherings so far.

Here is the short recap video showcasing how the event went. Make sure to check it out! :movie_camera::sparkles:

During the meetup, we successfully attracted interest from several node operators, and even introduced some of them to the possibility of running nodes on Astar. We also connected with developers and community members from different chains who showed strong curiosity about the Astar ecosystem.

For those who want to dive deeper into all event details, metrics, materials, photos, and budget breakdown, the full Post-Event Report is now live. You can review it here:

We thank you all for supporting Astar’s growth in Turkey! :rocket::blue_heart:

Excellent work, @MrKarahanli-Emre! I was looking at the content on X and I have to say the visual production is excellent, it conveys the meetup’s intention really well.

I reviewed the report in detail and as far as I’m concerned, it meets the standards of a low-budget meetup. Congratulations on putting together a great event!

Now, what are the next steps for your community?
How can I join and learn about the community’s interaction?

Thank you very much for the detailed report.

I’m glad to see that the meetup was well designed and that many people joined. It seems that there was also interest and curiosity about the Astar Node.

By the way, regarding activities around Astar Node, the Astar community has long been running a program called the Peers Program. I am currently planning to launch the recruitment for Season 3 this December.
There are no node operators in Turkey yet, so they are very welcome.
If you are interested in these activities, we would be delighted to have you participate.

Great work on the event, Emre, the turnout and the quality of the production really show how much effort went into this meetup. It’s also encouraging to see genuine interest from node operators and developers across different ecosystems.

The Peers Program mention is spot on. With Season 3 coming soon, this seems like a perfect opportunity for the Turkish community to get more involved on the technical side, especially since there are no local node operators yet. Having representation from Turkey would strengthen both regional presence and network decentralization.

Thank you for your kind words. If we are promoting Astar, I believe we need to move beyond old-fashioned promotions and deliver a high-quality production. Although it took a lot of time and effort, we have left behind a fantastic event.

The next step is to catch up with other ecosystem projects!
Many major projects: Avalaunche, Sui, Aptos, Monad, Base, Ethereum, Babylon, etc., are all different but are giants in their field and are aware of the high potential in the Turkish market. We have a young population with an excessive number of users and developers, and all ecosystems see this and are eager to launch their next million-dollar projects here.

I know the representatives or agency officials of many projects in Turkey, and most of them aim to find good projects here and integrate them into their own chains.
At this stage, with the influence we have, we want Astar to get a share of this market and find the people who will bring the next 0-100 project from Turkey to life.

So, what will be your community’s next steps?
->Our next immediate focus is to organize another hackathon in Bursa. (After that, we plan to collaborate with communities across Turkey through SubDAO, organize university tour series, etc.) With this hackathon, which I envision to be primarily EVM-focused (for both Astar EVM and Soneium compatibility), we aim to directly bring to life projects that the Astar ecosystem may need. My greatest hope is that the projects emerging from this hackathon will become an integral part of our ecosystem through programs like dApp Staking, UCG, etc.

How can I participate in the community’s interactions and learn more about this?
→ We will continue to announce these goals through official Turkish channels. The community’s greatest need going forward will be to seek support for the project they are developing. At this point, I would like to request that certain groups be established between these project owners and the team (directly Carlos). Because I don’t want people to just participate in the hackathon, receive an award, and then turn around and leave. I want the award-winning projects to gain a permanent place in the Astar ecosystem and benefit from UCG, dApp Staking, and perhaps even grant programs. In this process, they will need effective communication with team members. This is exactly where the need for these project owners to communicate with you will arise.

Thank you very much for the detailed report.

Thank you for your kind words. We have completed a wonderful event that we worked very hard on.

The “node operator” I mentioned in my reports is actually a professional project that provides a full-fledged validation service. Currently, Sunrise, Avail… (3-4 more) are working, and Celestia will be working soon.

Also, when I look at the image, I see one person on the European side of Turkey (Turkey is a country located in both Asia and Europe) <3

I hope this number increases. I’ve made a note to explain the “peers program” to the Turkish community at future events. I believe in decentralization, and I would personally be very happy to see more node operators on Astar.

Thank you sincerely for all your kind words. It was truly a wonderful event, and there’s more to come!

At the meetup, we managed to catch the attention of a project that provides validation services for multiple large projects, and I will be guiding them to join the Astar network next month.

As for the Peers Program, it has become a topic I plan to discuss more in future events and content. Seeing that there is only one node operator from Turkey bothers me, haha, this number needs to increase.

Great work, thank you @MrKarahanli-Emre for organizing the meetup and putting everything together, I hope to see more events in the future from you!

@MrKarahanli-Emre Okay, that’s clear to me. I’m really looking forward to seeing the follow-up of this great work done here
