I am not sure if it is still valid to apply at this stage, but I wanted to try anyway. There were personal reasons that prevented me from doing this earlier, and I humbly ask for your understanding.

Hello Astar Community,

My name is Simone Bortolan, known as SimonBrt on socials. I am based in Italy and have been passionately contributing to the Astar ecosystem since mid-2023, when I started helping the community and creating educational content purely out of passion, without holding any official role.

In October 2023, I applied to join the Astar Agents Program, and in August 2024 I officially became an Astar Ecosystem Agent.

From the beginning, my mission has been not only to simplify complexity – turning technical concepts into clear, engaging information – but also to actively support Astar’s growth in the long term. I strive to contribute as much as I can with my skills: helping the community, creating useful and accessible information, and dedicating part of my time to strengthening the project day after day.

Background & Experience

Over the last years, I have:

  • Led the Italian community across Telegram, Discord, and local events.

  • Created educational content (articles, videos, tutorials, infographics) to explain governance, tokenomics, and DeFi mechanics.

  • Translated and adapted official research and technical reports to make them accessible to Italian-speaking users.

  • Actively participated in forum discussions and governance processes, providing feedback and insights.

  • Represented Astar in offline meetups, such as this Polkadot event in Italy, where I introduced Astar to newcomers in Web3.

My contributions have been consistently documented and recognized through Community Treasury Tips Proposals, confirming both my dedication and the tangible impact of my work.

Motivation & Vision

I’m applying to join the Community Council because I want to take my contribution for Astar Network to the next level.

If I am elected, I will approach this responsibility with the same passion, dedication, and consistency that have guided all my contributions so far. My goal is to give the very best of my abilities, to listen, to learn, and to bring value wherever I can.

Just as I have always done in everything I take on, I will strive to honor this role by continuing to support the growth of Astar, helping the community, and putting my time and energy into making a positive impact on the ecosystem.

Hi Simon,
thank you for your application. I’ve been following your contributions since your candidacy period, and I know you’ve consistently shown strong initiative and agility. Your community reports will no doubt reflect that well.

If possible, I’d love to hear your thoughts on how you’ve contributed—or believe you could contribute—based on the reports issued by the Community Council in the first half of FY2025.

That would give community members an even deeper understanding of your strengths and involvement.

I have been following the Community Council reports throughout the first half of FY2025, as they have been a valuable reference for understanding the Council’s priorities and actions. Based on this, I’d like to share how my work has aligned with the Council’s past initiatives and how I believe I could add value moving forward.

How my contributions have supported past Council initiatives

  • Governance & Transparency: Through my content (threads, articles, videos), I’ve actively covered governance updates, Council decisions, and dApp staking changes, helping the community better understand proposals and on-chain actions.

  • On-chain Engagement: I’ve participated consistently in governance votes and referenda, following Council recommendations and contributing with my own evaluations when needed.

  • Agent Program Feedback: Over the past months, I have also shared several ideas and suggestions in the internal Agents group aimed at improving workflows and the Tips request process, in line with the Council’s efforts to standardize evaluation frameworks.

How I could contribute to future Council goals

Having followed the Council’s objectives closely, I feel strongly motivated to contribute to all the initiatives outlined. I greatly appreciate the significant work the Council has already done, having built from scratch templates, guidelines, and workflows across multiple areas (UCG, Agents Tips, dApp Staking, etc.). There is still much to be finalized and improved, and the idea of contributing to this ongoing effort truly excites me.

  • Agent Program 2.5: As an active Agent, I have a deep understanding of the program’s dynamics and know how crucial a well-structured framework can be to enhance both motivation and efficiency. I’m confident I could provide meaningful input to the creation of the new program, sharing my perspective to help optimize workflows and empower every Agent to give their best.

  • Supporting Q3 objectives: Most of the upcoming initiatives aim to simplify processes and make decision-making more streamlined — an approach that deeply resonates with my own way of working. I believe I can actively support the Council in bringing clarity, efficiency, and value to these developments.
