🗳️ Two Open Seats on the Astar Community Council – Apply Now!

Hello Astar Collective! :astr:

We’d like to inform you that one of our valued Community Representatives has officially stepped down from the Astar Community Council.

  • First, we want to acknowledge @AstarHood, who transitioned out of his role in July 2025.
  • And more recently @Mouthmouth68, who has also stepped down from the Council.

We sincerely thank both AstarHood and MouthMouth68 for their meaningful contributions throughout their terms. Their dedication to evaluating dApps, leading proposal discussions, and advocating for the best interests of the ecosystem has been invaluable :folded_hands:.

:loudspeaker: Two Council Seats Now Open!

With two of the six Council seats now vacant, we’re opening the opportunity to onboard new members from the community who are eager to support Astar’s growth and governance.

This is your chance to step forward and contribute directly to key decisions impacting the ecosystem.

:clipboard: Responsibilities of the Community Council

As a reminder, the Astar Community Council is a governance body with an active role in:

  • Managing the Community Treasury
  • Manage the UCG Program
  • Evaluating and listing or delisting dApps for dApp Staking
  • Manage of the Astar Ambassador Fellowship (AAF)
  • Participating in governance votes and onchain operations

Council members are expected to dedicate approximately 12–16 hours per week, attend meetings, engage in community discussions, and help shape a transparent, decentralized future for Astar.

Compensation: Council members receive around $800/month in ASTR, paid quarterly using EMA30-based pricing.

:warning: This amount may change depending on the direction that the Astar Collective decides to take at any time.

:military_medal: A Note for Ambassadors

Are you currently part of the Astar Ambassador Fellowship and interested in taking on a more active governance role?

Thank you for opening the call for new ACC members.

According to @Gaius_sama ’s post, it was mentioned that he would step in to maintain a four-member structure until new members are added.

Since this recruitment is described as filling two vacant seats out of six, am I correct in understanding that G will remain on the ACC?
Originally, the ACC was structured with 2 Foundation seats, 2 Agent seats, and 2 Community seats, so I don’t see any issue with G remaining in that role—and I would personally welcome it.

GM Astar Collective, thanks for reopening the discussion on the vacant positions in the Community Council – it’s an important sign of engagement.I recognize the value of the work carried out by the council so far, especially in the last period.I seriously considered the possibility of running: I believe in the role of the ACC as a real bridge between the community and operational decisions. However, after reflection, I prefer not to do it.

Over the years I have always tried to be a critical and independent voice towards the foundation, the ambassador program and internal processes. I believe that this independence is more useful now, to continue providing straightforward feedback without potential conflicts of interest.I remain hopeful that there are people capable of filling these positions effectively and immediately.I wish the best to those who will run or continue. I confirm that I will remain active on the forum: I will continue to propose ideas on dApp Staking, UCG improvements, tokenomics and to monitor the council’s decisions to provide constructive input.

Hi,

Thanks for asking. I do not have strong preferences either way. I am happy to remain, or to give my seat to another foundation member if there is interest.

I prefer not to over commit or take on a leadership role, as I believe the ACC is already in very good hands and doing a great job. I also have other responsibilities that require more of my attention, particularly within the Main Council and the Astar Foundation. For these reasons, I am comfortable remaining in the ACC as long as needed and providing support where I can.

I want to be transparent that I do not see myself as a leader within the ACC, but rather as a collaborative and supporting member.

Given my close involvement in the dApp Staking and tokenomics revamp, as well as my long standing onchain and governance experience with Astar, I can also help onboard and support new ACC members as they navigate the complexity of onchain mechanisms.

I am happy to join and contribute as long as the ACC is comfortable having me.

Nice to see transparency and healthy dialogue around the open ACC seats, governance only works when both structure and expectations evolve in public view. The fact that we’re discussing not just who fills seats but how the ACC should function going forward (bridge role, independence, workload balance, etc.) is a positive signal.

Also appreciate the clarity from @Gaius_sama on staying in a supporting capacity vs. steering continuity matters, especially with dApp staking + tokenomics changes still mid-flight, but so does leaving room for non-foundation voices. And credit to @Marroz for highlighting the value of independence from formal councils; not every contribution needs a title to create influence.

Hopefully this call brings in candidates who can contribute immediately and broaden representation, while keeping the ACC’s recent momentum.

Hi @Marroz

In complete honesty, I invite you to join the ACC, as, in my opinion, engaged people like you are the best representatives to sit in one of the two community-member positions.

I would also like to mention that at no time have I been pressured to change my opinion, remain silent, or change a vote when my position/vision differed from that of the Astar Foundation or other Astar-related members of the ACC. This was true both within the ACC’s private channels and on the forum (you can ask @Maarten , @Gaius_sama or @Juminstock ). So I believe that being part of the ACC will not hinder your freedom of speech or your independence.
