Council Update – Seat Transfer to Carlos

:waving_hand: Hello Astar Community,

I’m writing today to share an important update regarding the composition of the Astar Community Council (ACC).

After careful consideration and internal discussion, I have decided to step down from my position as a Community Council member and transfer my seat and responsibilities to @juminstock (Carlos), our Astar Community Manager and DevRel. :glowing_star:

Why This Change?

As many of you know, maintaining a full and balanced Council is essential for effective governance and representation. While it’s sometimes necessary to have three Core Team members temporarily, our goal has always been to uphold the 2-2-2 structure (Core Team, Ecosystem Agents, Community Representatives) as much as possible.

Recently, with new candidates expressing interest in joining the ACC, it became clear that Carlos (@juminstock) would be a strong addition to the Council. He is deeply involved in the community, governance, dApp Staking, and the Ecosystem Agent program, and has more availability to dedicate to Council work than I currently do. I believe Carlos will be an active and impactful Council member, helping to keep our initiatives moving forward. :flexed_biceps:

What Happens Next? :counterclockwise_arrows_button:

  • I will officially step down from my ACC seat, and @juminstock will take on the role and responsibilities.

  • This transition will still leave one open seat (previously held by AstarHood), which can be filled by another community member (e.g., Jorge, Simone), maintaining the intended 2-2-2 balance and bringing in two new members instead of just one.

  • I will no longer be an official member or lead of the ACC, but I will remain available in the group to support as needed.

  • To ensure a smooth handover, I am documenting all on-chain processes and Council responsibilities in detail (claiming rewards, submitting motions, etc.) on Notion, so the new and existing members can easily follow and execute these tasks independently. :memo:

Additional Next Steps :ballot_box_with_ballot:

Before I officially step down, I will coordinate the election process for the remaining open seat (to replace AstarHood). Since we have two candidates, we will organize an offchain vote soon to ensure a fair and transparent selection.

Once the new member is elected, I will also coordinate with the Main Council to update the Community Council membership onchain. This will ensure a smooth and transparent transition for all members and the community. :link:

This decision is not due to a lack of interest in the ACC, but rather a rational step back to focus on my other responsibilities, including my role on the Main Council and other internal and external commitments. It’s important to maintain quality and focus across all roles, and I believe this transition will benefit both the Council and the broader Astar community. :glowing_star:

Final Thoughts

I want to thank everyone for your feedback, support, and understanding throughout this process. I am confident that @juminstock will serve the community well, and I look forward to seeing the continued growth and success of the ACC.

Let’s keep building a strong, transparent, and inclusive Astar ecosystem together! :globe_with_meridians::sparkles:

Carlos came to http://platohedro.org/ a few years ago and proved himself as an altruistic, value-driven contributor.
Supported the community with commitment despite having a low fare side job and no money incentives. His main motivation was always learning, connecting and growing along the community.

I have no doubt that @Juminstock will serve with transparency and commitment in the ACC, helping to replicate and spread his success story by seeking, supporting and boosting the community the best talent.

Hi G, I’m sorry to see you leave the council, but at the same time I’m relieved and happy that you decided to elect @Juminstock as your successor.
I truly believe he’s one of the few people capable of filling the gap left by your departure from the CC.
At first (Carlos knows this because we talked about it in private), I didn’t even want to apply to join the Community Council, precisely because I didn’t want to take away even the slightest chance for Carlos to be elected — I honestly think he’s the right person for the role!
I’m so happy he’s been elected, both for him and for the good of Astar ! SUPERRRRRR!

P.S.: @Gaius_sama, I still hope you’ll remain as an “observer” member to lend a hand if needed, because your knowledge and skills bring a real added value to the CC.

Thanks for the detailed update. I fully understand the decision and definitely agree that @Juminstock is the ideal person for the position given his technical knowledge and track record within the ecosystem. I’m completely confident Carlos will do a great job!

Thank you for your contributions as an ACC member!

When necessary, it is important to hand over the role to another member, and in this case, transitioning to juminstock — who had expressed interest in the position — makes perfect sense.

I look forward to seeing your future activities.

Hello Astar Community! :bust_in_silhouette:

First, I want to apologize for the delay before starting the vote. We needed to integrate a new offchain voting system for this election. Now that we have OpenSquare integrated with Astar (supporting both Native & EVM), we can proceed with the election.

As part of our ongoing commitment to transparent, community-driven governance, we are launching the voting process to fill the remaining open seat on the Astar Community Council (ACC). This election is essential to maintain the Council’s balanced 2-2-2 structure—ensuring representation from the Core Team, Ecosystem Agents, and Community Representatives—and to keep our governance strong, inclusive, and effective.

Why This Election Matters

The Astar Community Council is a governance body of six members, each playing a vital role in:

  • Managing the Community Treasury
  • Overseeing UCG grant proposals
  • Evaluating and listing dApps for dApp Staking
  • Reviewing Ecosystem Agent Tips
  • Participating in governance votes and onchain operations

Council members dedicate ~10–12 hours per week to these responsibilities, ensuring that the interests of the entire ecosystem are represented and that decisions are made transparently and efficiently. The Council’s 2-2-2 structure (2 Core Team, 2 Ecosystem Agents, 2 Community Representatives) is designed to bring diverse perspectives and expertise to the table, strengthening our collective decision-making.

With the recent departure of @AstarHood, we now have an open Community Representative seat. Holding this election allows us to maintain the Council’s balance and momentum, and to bring in new energy and ideas from the community.

Meet the Candidates

After a thorough application process, we are pleased to present two outstanding candidates for your consideration:

We encourage all community members to read their applications and learn more about their vision, experience, and commitment to Astar.

Voting Details

How to Vote

  1. Visit the OpenSquare voting page during the voting period.
  2. Review the candidate applications:
  1. Cast your vote for your preferred candidate.

All ASTR holders are eligible to participate. The outcome of this vote will determine which community member is elected as the next Community Representative and will join the Astar Community Council. The candidate receiving the most votes will be elected to the Council.

Why Your Vote Matters

This is your opportunity to directly influence the direction of Astar’s governance. By participating, you help ensure that the Council remains accountable, transparent, and truly representative of our diverse community. The elected member will play a key role in managing treasury resources, supporting ecosystem growth, and upholding the values that make Astar unique.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask in this thread or tag @Community_Council.

Thank you for your engagement and support—let’s continue building a thriving, inclusive, and community-driven Astar ecosystem together!

I voted on this platform right away, thank you!

Considering his contributions so far, I think @SimonB is more suitable, but I voted for @CJorgeSaez in order to maintain the 2-2-2 balance of the ACC (Simon is for Ecosystem Egent). However, Jorge’s comments on the forum are limited to his own proposals for LATAM events, so if he becomes an ACC member, I would ask him to participate more actively in discussions.

Wishing the best of luck to both candidates, myself and @CJorgeSaez :raising_hands:
I truly hope the community will actively participate in this important vote, as every voice matters.
Regardless of the final outcome, I’m confident that whoever is elected will do their best to contribute with dedication and transparency to the Community Council.

Let’s keep building, together :blue_heart:

Hi @you425 Thank you so much for your support and honesty, it is truly a great honor for me to have your vote! :raising_hands:

I completely understand your point.

That said, I fully agree that being a member of the ACC requires broader participation, and if I have the privilege of being elected, I am certainly committed to contributing more actively by commenting on and enriching the various proposals and/or topics generated within the ecosystem. I believe that as a member of the ACC, getting involved in various proposals and supporting the ecosystem as a whole is key to our collective success.

Thanks again for all your support, I truly appreciate it! :handshake: :astr:

Hi @SimonB Thank you very much and best of luck to you too! :raising_hands:

I completely agree with you and I have complete confidence that whatever the outcome of this election, both candidates are committed to continuing to contribute with transparency, collaboration, and dedication to the growth of Astar and our community.

Let’s continue building together! :astr:

I voted right away as well, thank you for setting this up.

After reviewing both applications, I decided to support Simon. His ongoing contributions and active involvement across the ecosystem show a strong commitment to Astar, and I believe he would add real value to the Council’s work.

That said, I also appreciate Jorge’s efforts with LATAM initiatives, and I hope he’ll continue driving community engagement there regardless of the outcome.

From my point of view, it’s better to keep the 2-2-2 structure (2 Core Team, 2 Ecosystem Agents, 2 Community Representatives). Simon is a very good Ecosystem Agent but we need a Community Representative here for replacing AstarHood. It’s why I voted Jorge

Hi @Matt thank you so much for your honesty, and I truly appreciate your words :handshake:

You can count on that! I’ll be happy regardless of the outcome, and I will undoubtedly continue working to boost the Astar Network and Soneium ecosystems in Latin America, primarily from Peru, where I’m based. :astr: :rocket:
