Delisting of Paras in dApp Staking

:stop_sign: Proposal for Delisting Paras from dApp Staking

Summary

This proposal is created to delist Paras from the dApp Staking system on Astar Network due to its lack of ongoing contribution to the ecosystem and its failure to promote or bring value to the ASTR token.

Listing on the Astar portal: https://portal.astar.network/astar/dapp-staking/dapp?dapp=a8svgv6x5vpzyq85a9mscme9y7k91lgbhfpb7kjcbtdduhk

Background

Paras was initially approved for dApp Staking based on their proposal outlined in the Astar Forum back in April 2023:

Paras is a NFT marketplace which has both NEAR and Astar Network integrated, with a focus on Wasm compatible NFTs (Astar): https://paras.id

Key Metrics

  • There is also no update to DappRadar since April of this year. Information is not available beyond that month.
  • Absence of ecosystem development: No evidence suggests active development or expansion that promotes Astar NFT collections, nor the ASTR token:
    • ASTR is still listed as an integrated chain on the main website (switchable between NEAR and Astar) but currently there is little to no activity on either.
    • On their X (x.com) there has been no post about Astar or Astar collections for the entire 2024 year so far, as far as I can tell by going through the public X posts.
    • Nov 5th of this year was Paras last social post (a repost). No meaningful mention of Astar or ASTR in general through their social media platforms and indicating that marketing is halted for Astar.

  • Developer Wallet Activity: The project’s developer wallet can be reviewed here:

    Contract Address: a8SVGV6X5vpZyq85A9mscME9Y7k91LGbhfpB7KjcbtDDUHK

Rationale

Paras no longer meets the criteria for dApp Staking due to the following reasons:

  1. Minimal Ecosystem Contribution: The project has not actively driven value to the Astar ecosystem, Astar NFT collections or enhanced the utility of the ASTR token.
  2. Stagnant Development: No new features, updates, or significant milestones have been introduced to benefit the community of ASTR holders.
  3. Inactive Engagement: Paras has failed to maintain active engagement, outreach, or partnerships that positively impact the Astar ecosystem.

To maintain the integrity and effectiveness of the dApp Staking system, it is essential to ensure that only projects with meaningful contributions and active participation are supported.

Community Engagement

I value the input of the Astar community and invite all members to share their thoughts and feedback on this proposal.

  • Forum Topic and Discussion: Please discuss by replying here, and I propose shortening this discussion period to 2 days (48 hrs from time of post).
  • Voting Timeline: A vote on this proposal will be initiated after the 2 day period. The proposal and vote will take place over a 7 day period on https://astar.subsquare.io/

Next Steps

  1. Community Discussion (2 Days): Share feedback and additional insights.
  2. Voting Period (7 Days): Participate in the formal vote to decide on the delisting.
  3. Execution: If the proposal passes, Paras will be removed from the dApp Staking system.

Together, let’s ensure that Astar remains a hub for impactful and value-driven projects. Thank you for your participation and support!

Thanks again for the proposal.

As you said, Paras has had no activity for a while and the reposts are all related to Near and do not appear to be focused on Astar. I think the delist is appropriate.

I agree with you, a good general cleanup of dApps that do not add value to astar is very fair

Thanks for the summary and research, besides not providing value to the ASTR Token, many projects do not care to contribute to the marketing of Astar Network, not even get involved in it, it should be noted that the Soneium dApps do and many are not even in dApp Staking.

I think that within the requirements of dApp Staking that should be taken into account by us agents and the community is how much value they also contribute to the marketing of the network.

I am delighted to see that AstarHood’s mission is bearing immediate fruit - congratulations on this efficient solution.

I agree with taking Paras out of the dApp Staking.

Paras emerged making a lot of noise in the ecosystem, but its development seems to have moved away from the ecosystem and brought little value to the network. I agree with delisting.

Thanks for the research and due diligence.

Thanks a lot for all comments!
I will create the public proposal today to move forward the delisting of Paras.

I have created the onchain proposal to delist Paras from dApp Staking.

You can endorse it to show your support: Delisting Paras Project from dApp Staking

Last thing to close up this thread. If anyone would like to follow me on X I will keep updates about discussions and proposals there too and keep a X public record of the things I find that help justify the proposals made. More transparency.

and MOST importantly, tag me on posts and projects that you think are inactive, parasitic, or not useful towards Astar. This would help greatly in collecting data and do the analysis quicker. Thank you.

AT LAST! Second this.

I know I’m holding their NFT, Usagii, but hope already abandoned long ago.

Their Discord server now already gone early this year, and i have been around the bush seeking for the key persons, but no any key persons who still open to talk about Paras development and left me in silence.

Delist it will be wise move now.
And Usagii should be delisted too if they still in the portal list.
