Sponsorship and Activation at Cripto Latin Fest Buildathon

Hello community, I am pleased to return with a proposal for our Astar & Soneium protocols, with the intention of participate on Cripto Latin Fest, an important event that could generate a significant Astar adoption in my region

With the track record I already have within Astar’s history, I want to take the opportunity to represent Astar in what is one of the biggest events of the year within Latam, thus seeking greater adoption.

Context

The Cripto Latin Fest is an event of great relevance in the blockchain and crypto community in Latin America. It is positioned as a key meeting point for professionals, developers, investors and enthusiasts of the Web3 ecosystem in the region.

This year will be its 8th edition, to be held in the city of Medellin, Colombia, one of the main cities and references in the Web3 ecosystem throughout Latin America. With the union and support of local government, universities and local communities, the event expects to gather more than 3,000 spectators among all its activities.

TL;DR

Taking into consideration this context of the event, I propose that Astar and Soneium have a participation within its Buildathon, being the main and only sponsor of this special space for developers. To achieve this, I plan to:

  1. University Workshop in Medellín (Between August 18-20):
  • 1 Workshop at leading university such as Universidad de Antioquia and EAFIT.
  • Focus on introducing Soneium and Astar development tools.
  • On-chain activities: Students will deploy basic smart contracts and mint on-chain certificates of participation.

2. Buildathon Sponsorship (August 21-22):

  • Brand exposure in roll-ups, prints and logo display of Soneium & Astar during the Buildathon.
  • Delivery of two in-depth technical workshops:
      • Workshop 1: “Building dApps on Astar”
Learn how to build dApps on the Astar network. We will cover everything from development fundamentals and UX design to creating sustainable economic models centered around the ASTR token.

      • Workshop 2: “On-Chain governance tools”
Delve into the creation of tools for Astar’s on-chain governance. We will analyze governance models, the construction of transparent interfaces, and best practices for smart contract security.

  • Real-time on-chain challenge: participants must complete tasks (e.g., deploy a smart contract, interact with Soneium modules) to unlock rewards.
  • Mentorship during the Buildathon with a focus on project development on Soneium/Astar.
  • Presentation and awarding of the top 3 MVPs with on-chain validation and public minting of winner NFTs.
  • The top 3 projects will be evaluated based on the following challenges:

dApps that successfully attract and retain a general audience by creatively integrating the use of the ASTR token into entertainment or leisure functions or dApps, integrations, or tools that significantly improve community participation in Astar’s on-chain governance.

Sounds like an awesome initiative! Love the focus on both education and hands-on dev work.

Quick question: Do you have any follow-up plans to keep participants engaged after the event? Maybe a community group or support for ongoing projects?

Hey Matt! Thanks for the comment!
Of course, we will make that all the people who join can join the group “Soneium Astar Colectivo”, group that is in Telegram, which we inaugurated with the meetups we did between Valencia (Venezuela), Medellin and Bogota, and that is administered by Carlos Rodriguez, Community Manager of Startale. In this group we can continue to encourage its growth and serve as a space to exchange ideas.

Hi there!
I’m thrilled to take part on this proposal by supporting the developer education efforts.
Feel free to ask for specific details on the education strategy.

Greetings.

Thank you for your great proposal!

I assume you have already consulted with Carlos, but there seems to be only one month left. Considering the discussions here and the on-chain governance of the budget, I think the deadline is quite tight, but is that okay?

Thank you very much for submitting this proposal and for your efforts to represent Astar/Soneium in LATAM.

Regarding the requested sponsorship of $6,000 and the estimated reach of 80 attendees, I’d like to offer some reflections based on standard benchmarks in Web3 events:

:white_check_mark: Strengths / Positive Justifications

  • Cost Efficiency for the Region: For LATAM, this level of sponsorship is quite reasonable. Events of similar size in Latin America typically receive sponsorships ranging between $5,000–$15,000, depending on the quality of the audience and deliverables.
  • Strategic Visibility: If Astar/Soneium can have an active presence (booth, speaking slot, branding, user onboarding, QR codes), this can be a strong entry point into key markets and developer communities across LATAM.
  • Market Penetration: LATAM is becoming increasingly important for Web3 adoption, especially in DeFi, digital identity, and tokenized assets. A visible presence can help us stay ahead of competitors entering the region.

:warning: Challenges / Questions

  • High Estimated Cost Per User: With a projected $94 per attendee, the cost is on the higher side compared to digital acquisition channels. We’d like to understand more about what kind of users are expected (builders, founders, general crypto users?) and if there is any on-chain follow-up (e.g., wallets created, social media growth, dev sign-ups).
  • Unclear Alignment with Astar/Soneium KPIs: It would be helpful to learn more about how this event is positioned to promote Astar/Soneium specifically. Are we onboarding projects to the ecosystem? Highlighting Superchain and CCIP features? Promoting wallets or staking?

We’d love to support efforts in LATAM but want to ensure there is a measurable return — especially in terms of network activity or community building.

Looking forward to your reply and additional details!

Thanks for your comment!
That is correct, I have been talking with Carlos, in fact, he will help in the review of MVPs product of the Ideathon.
And yes, I am clear that our timeline is short, but, I have talked to the CLF and they are good with this. Otherwise, we still are working.

Thanks @pitcoin777 for your comments and questions!

To be responsive, we are certainly estimating 80 attendees only for the Ideathon, however, the Astar/Soneium image and brand exposure will be in all the spaces of the Cripto Latin Fest, which is estimating a participation of up to 3000 people in the whole conference, so the exposure is higher.

However, for the Buildathon we are expecting to have users who are builders to have the ability to build inside Astar/Soneium. We also want to continue empowering the Astar/Soneium collective in Spanish that has already been formed from Telegram.

About the KPIs, we are focused on onboarding devs to Startale cloud service and Startale AA toolkit, this through the workshops we are going to give and what we are going to be measuring in the tests.

Hello community!

I would like to inform you about a change in the proposal process for participating in the Cripto Latin Fest Buildathon.

Due to the tight schedule for the event and the significant workload currently facing Astar governance, we have decided that the proposal will be managed directly through the Community Treasury, here Sponsorship and Activation at Cripto Latin Fest Buildathon

This decision was made to ensure that we can move forward with organizing the event efficiently and meet the necessary deadlines, guaranteeing that the Buildathon is a success for all participants and for the Astar ecosystem.

Hello Friends,

After a careful review and discussion within the ACC, we have decided to support your proposal with some specific conditions related to the Buildathon:

Astar Network Focus: The development of dApps or tools should be primarily oriented towards the Astar network, rather than Soneium.

AND

ASTR Token Integration: Applications or tools must utilize the ASTR token as a core component.

AND

Governance Tools: Integrations or tools that enhance user participation in Astar’s on-chain governance are encouraged.
OR
Entertainment & Consumer Track: This category is dedicated to apps promoting entertainment through the use of the ASTR token.

If you agree with these modifications, please update the proposal description accordingly. Once updated, the ACC will proceed with approving the Treasury request.

If you prefer to keep the proposal as it is, the ACC will have to decline the current Treasury request. However, you will still have the opportunity to carry out the proposed activities and later request retroactive payment based on the actual KPIs achieved. Please note that acceptance of retroactive payments is not guaranteed.

Thank you for your understanding and collaboration.

Best regards,

ACC
