Astar and Soneium at Bitcoin Pizza Day in Lima, Peru 2025

Hi dear Astar Community!

I would like to introduce Astar Network and Soneium to the main Web3 communities of the Peruvian ecosystem at the Bitcoin Pizza Day Lima Peru 2025, promoting the building on Soneium, highlighting the importance of $ASTR as a key asset within the Soneium ecosystem, and also incentivizing its adoption to future new holders and builders in an event of international scope that commemorates a historic milestone in the crypto world.

The Global Pizza Party is a global celebration, promoted for the 5th consecutive year by PizzaDAO, commemorating the first commercial transaction with Bitcoin on May 22, 2010. Currently, this celebration has expanded to more than 200 cities and over 80 countries, bringing together the main Web3 communities and reaching more than 15,000 participants globally. Bitcoin Pizza Day Lima Peru 2025 is part of this global celebration and is an event that will bring together the main Web3 communities of the Peruvian ecosystem.

Astar Network and Soneium’s participation in Bitcoin Pizza Day Lima, Peru 2025 represents a unique opportunity to connect with key Web3 communities in one of the most active ecosystems in Latin America. This event not only celebrates a historic milestone in the crypto world, but also allows us to build a local community, generate greater brand visibility, and educate about Astar Network and Soneium in a friendly, decentralized environment.

I would like to know your opinion on this matter. If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, please do not hesitate to let me know. Looking forward to your feedback.

Thanks in advance!

Best regards,
Jorge Sáez

Thanks for the proposal.
Now you are proposing a different event, but before that I think it is not a bad suggestion to look at the track record of this relatively small event.

Before I go any further, I have a few things to confirm and a few suggestions.

  • First, I don’t know anything about this event, so if anyone does, I’d like their input.
  • On top of that, the amount of merchandise seems excessive for the size of the event: one set of Astar and Soneium t-shirts would be fine, no caps, and one type of sticker would be sufficient.
  • What kind of design do you plan to use for brochures, banners, and other printed materials?
  • We also need more detailed estimates for each cost
  • And we only have two weeks left, can you prepare?

This proposal presents a great opportunity for Astar Network and Soneium to gain visibility in Latin America, especially by engaging with grassroots Web3 communities at a globally recognized event like Bitcoin Pizza Day. The alignment between community celebration and blockchain education feels organic and strategic.

How do you plan to measure the impact or success of Astar and Soneium’s participation in the Bitcoin Pizza Day event?

Will there be any workshops, demos, or incentives (like token giveaways) specifically designed to onboard developers and new users into the Soneium ecosystem during the event?

Hi @you425 Thank you so much for your valuable comments :raising_hands:

Yeah, I’ve proposed presenting Astar and Soneium at the Peru Blockchain Conference 2025, one of the main events for the ecosystem in the country. This time, the idea is to present both projects at an event that brings together web communities around the world. This event is held simultaneously at the international level. Of course, it’s a much smaller event than the conference, but it will allow us to connect with the main blockchain and web3 communities in the ecosystem, showcase the projects, and build a local community.

This is an event that has been held simultaneously in more than 80 countries for five consecutive years. In Latin America, 45 locations have been confirmed, three of them here in Peru. Here you can find some references about this event:

This event is expected to have 60-80+ attendees, so I considered that amount of merch. However, as you mentioned, I can reduce it a bit, taking your suggestions into account. I could:

  • Leave only one set of T-shirts (10 Astar Designs and 10 Soneium Designs).
  • Leave only one set of stickers.
  • Discard the caps.

Regarding the design, there is no problem with that, the idea is to provide summarized information about the projects, main characteristics, and invite to follow the projects on their main social networks. If there are already predetermined designs for this, it would be great to know, if not, there is no problem, I can work on it with the branding materials.

Regarding costs, everything is detailed in point 6 of the proposal in the Budget Breakdown section.

Sure, no problem with that. What might take longer to make are the T-shirts, but since we’ve reduced the number of units, I don’t think there will be any problems. I work with professional suppliers, and they usually give me the merch within 48 hours or three days at the latest.

Thanks again for your feedback!

Hi @Matt , thank you so much for your support, I truly appreciate it! :raising_hands:

Yeah, the idea is to leverage current efforts in LatAm, and specifically here in Peru, by connecting Astar and Soneium with the main Web3 communities in the local ecosystem, attracting new builders, holders, and enthusiasts.

  • 60-80+ attendees.
  • 3 new holders (the 3 giveaway winners).
  • 60-80+ people to talk about Astar Network and Soneium.
  • Creation of a local community with 50+ members, including developers and builders, where they can stay informed about future events and project updates.
  • Social media interaction. Once confirmed, announcements will be made both on PizzaDAO’s global accounts and locally through the accounts of the organizing communities.

Yeah, during the event, I will introduce both projects and provide information encouraging them to build on the ecosystem. I plan to hold a live giveaway of $60 for three winners, $20 each, to make it engaging and increase participation and engagement.

Thanks again for your support and feedback!

Hi @you425 I’ve updated the proposal by reducing the merch a bit this way, according to your feedback :+1:

Thanks for the reply.

No, there was no particular design specification from our side. We only asked how they intended to prepare it.

Yes, this is a question based on our review of the documentation. This question is about wanting a basis for this estimate. For example, a link to the estimate should be provided, as in this proposal.

I understand the other matters, thank you.

Hi @CJorgeSaez

Thank you for submitting your proposal. I appreciate the initiative and your commitment to growing awareness of Astar and Soneium in Latin America. That said, I’d like to better understand the strategic value of this sponsorship before moving forward.

Could you please clarify the tangible outputs and KPIs you aim to deliver from this event? How will success be measured in a way that aligns with Astar’s core metrics? Given that the Bitcoin community tends to be quite siloed and ideologically distinct, what’s the concrete plan to convert this exposure into on-chain users or long-term builders in the Astar ecosystem?

From the materials provided, it appears that much of the activation consists of distributing physical merch (t-shirts, stickers, brochures). Is that correct? Or will there be any structured content such as workshops, technical presentations, or talks introducing Astar and Soneium in more depth?

Personally, I’m not fully convinced that side events focused on Bitcoin are the most effective path to establishing meaningful traction in Latin America. I believe larger, more targeted Ethereum ecosystem events may be better suited for that.

Additionally, I’d like to understand what content will be delivered and how the messaging will directly support your stated goals of “encouraging adoption among new holders and builders” and “educating about the project.”

Looking forward to your response and further clarifications.

Hi @you425 Thanks for your feedback.

Ah ok, you mean invoices and quotes for each item described in the budget, sure, thanks for the suggestion, I’ve already requested them and added them to the proposal :+1:

Hi @pitcoin777 Thank you for your feedback!

Sure! happy to answer any questions

The KPIs for this event are:

  • 60-80+ attendees.
  • 3 new holders (the 3 giveaway winners).
  • 60-80+ people to talk about Astar Network and Soneium.
  • Creation of a local community with 50+ members, including developers and builders, where they can stay informed about future events and project updates.
  • Social media interaction. Once confirmed, announcements will be made both on PizzaDAO’s global accounts and locally through the accounts of the organizing communities.

This aligns perfectly with Astar’s key values as the event will allow:

  • The creation of new wallets.
  • The inclusion of new holders.
  • Increasing Astar’s reach.
  • Increasing awareness and use of Astar tools in new countries like Peru, strengthening its expansion in Latin America.
  • The creation of a community of local builders and enthusiasts.
  • Amplification on social media.

In fact, the event is not for the isolated maximalist Bitcoin community you mention, it is an event that brings together the main Web3 communities of the ecosystem, to turn this exhibition into long-term users and builders of the Astar Ecosystem, I plan to create a local community where builders, enthusiasts and other interested parties can meet and stay updated on ecosystem developments, future events, updates and other relevant information, ensuring a solid and committed community in the long term.

That’s right, I’ll be providing some merch and doing a live giveaway using the native $ASTR token as part of the brand activation during the event.

Of course, both things will be done, during the event, I will have a space to introduce Astar Network and Soneium and share their key features with enthusiasts, builders, and Web3 communities so they can learn about the opportunities and tools available to build and help expand the ecosystem. The main objective is to encourage more developers and builders to join and actively participate in building projects that can help expand the ecosystem.

In the following link you can see a reference event: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DDanCkoRSCO/?igsh=MWJoeGl0Ym82bGgyaA%3D%3D

As I mentioned earlier, this won’t be an event exclusively for the maximalist Bitcoin community; it’s a networking event that brings together the ecosystem’s core Web3 communities.

Yeah, larger events certainly have a greater impact. I’ve recently proposed Astar Network and Soneium’s participation in one of these events, such as the Peru Blockchain Conference 2025, which is one of the ecosystem’s leading events in both the country and the region. However, I believe that smaller events like meetups and workshops are also very beneficial and provide excellent opportunities to educate and connect with local communities.

For this I will provide an introductory session about Astar Network, latest news, its dApp Staking mechanism, and its multichain capabilities such as WASM and EVM, and the utility of its native token $ASTR incentivizing its adoption and participation in the ecosystem.

I hope I have clarified your doubts, thank you very much for your feedback and valuable comments :raising_hands:

The event looks fun and quite breaks from the conventional approach. It’s a really great idea. I especially want the merchandise myself. However, I’d like to ask a few more questions:

  1. Expectations for target users who are likely to attend the event - what kind of people are they? I understand they might be different from previous events.

  2. Regarding the number of attendees, what are the targets?

Hi @BoomBLB Thank you so much for your feedback, I really appreciate it!

Hahaha I’m glad you liked it :raising_hands:

The event brings together the main web3 communities, so different types of people will attend. However, the target audience to attract to the event are mainly builders and ecosystem enthusiasts who can join and subsequently develop and contribute both at the community level and at the ecosystem level.

The event is planned for 60-80+ attendees.

Thanks again for your feedback and valuable comments!

Thank you very much for submitting this engaging and well-thought-out proposal. It’s great to see efforts to promote Astar Network and Soneium in key regional events like Bitcoin Pizza Day Lima 2025, especially with a focus on introducing $ASTR to new builders and holders in Latin America.
I have a few follow-up questions to better understand the proposal:

  1. On the official website, I noticed there is an NFT minting initiative by PizzaDAO. Have you considered minting commemorative NFTs on Astar or Soneium for this event as part of the giveaway or community engagement? This could be a great way to onboard participants directly into the Astar ecosystem and demonstrate the chain’s capabilities.
  2. Regarding the sponsorship package, I see that there is a 20-minute presentation slot. Could you clarify the focus of this segment? Will it be a dedicated introduction to Astar and Soneium, including technical and ecosystem highlights, or will it cover a broader Web3 narrative with mentions of Astar?

Looking forward to your clarification. This proposal has strong potential, and I appreciate your commitment to growing Astar’s presence in new regions.

Hi @DrCAO Thank you so much for your feedback and support!

Yeah, typically for these types of community events, NFTs are usually used, and they’re preferably made available to attendees on Opensea or POAP, to make it more accessible.

However, I’ve also minted directly on the project’s main blockchain through partner Blockchain Startups, where attendees are provided with a QR code so they can claim their minted NFT on the blockchain. I could replicate that for this event, and as you mentioned, it would certainly be a great way to showcase the capabilities of the Astra or Soneium blockchain. Thank you very much for the suggestion.

Sure! For this I will provide an introductory session about Astar Network, latest news, its dApp Staking mechanism, and its multichain capabilities such as WASM and EVM, and the utility of its native token $ASTR incentivizing its adoption and participation in the ecosystem.

Again, thank you so much for your support, I really appreciate it! :raising_hands:

Thank you, I have confirmed this.
I am positive about this event.
The rest depends on your opinions.

Hi @Gaius_sama sorry for the inconvenience. Based on current cycles and considering this event will be on May 22nd, could you please guide me on the ideal date to upload my proposal to the on-chain treasury and how the process would work?

Thank you very much in advance :folded_hands:

Hi @CJorgeSaez, it’s great to see your motivation to contribute to the Astar ecosystem.

I’ll guide you through this, but first, let me add my comments to the proposal.

Bitcoin Pizza Day is a very important event for the Web3 ecosystem in Latam, mainly because free pizzas are given away and people attend to eat and catch up with friends. It’s true that I see value in having Astar & Soneium present at this event, having someone speak about our protocols would be very beneficial. However, I’d prefer that we start on a smaller scale, especially in a market where we’ve only had a presence once (reference here: Astar Network in Ethereum Latam Day).

That’s why I’d like to see a revised proposal with a lower cost, perhaps just sponsoring the $200 for the talk, and based on the results, progressively do bigger things. Does that sound good to you? My other question is: Would you be willing to do this retroactively? It’s been less than a month since you started getting involved with Astar, and this is the second time you’re requesting funds from our treasury. Would that be feasible for you?

Regarding submitting the proposal on our On-chain Governance:

  1. The proposal must remain under discussion for at least 7 days to give the community members space to engage.
  2. Then you should follow the steps in this guide: https://docs.astar.network/docs/use/governance/subsquare_guide, and submit the proposal to the community treasury.
  3. You will need to hold $ASTR tokens to submit the proposal on-chain.

Let me know if I can help you with anything else, and please tag me instead of Gaius next time .

Yes, I agree with @Juminstock 's perspective.

@CJorgeSaez currently has no visible track record of activities within the Astar Community (from the community’s recognition). Therefore, it would be best to start with a small-scale event and adopt a retroactive funding model.

Originally, for offline events that require significant costs—like this one—Astar’s policy has been to reimburse costs retroactively after the event, rather than providing funds upfront. However, in practice, since most past applicants were Agents with a proven track record, funds were often provided in advance based on established trust.

Of course, not all cases require full retroactive reimbursement—especially when the event scale makes it difficult for the organizer to front the full cost. In such situations, a partial upfront grant followed by reimbursement after reporting is a reasonable compromise.

In this case, I believe it would be best to run the event within a manageable budget, then submit a retroactive funding request afterward, using the outcome as a basis to build trust for future opportunities.

With pleasure. Anyway, thank you for the information. I will always support you, bro. I’ll wait for the atmosphere photos and feedback from the event. =)
