Driving adoption and expansion of Astar Network and Soneium in Peru

Hi @SimonB , thank you so much for your feedback, I really appreciate it! :folded_hands:

I totally agree with you on this point. Educational airdrops and chain participation incentives can have a much greater impact than simple token giveaways.

In fact, considering that I’ll be covering all the expenses for Astar’s participation in this event myself, I was thinking about reducing the budget a bit. For example, banners won’t be necessary since I currently have one for Astar from the last event. I’d also thought about doing without the airdrop, but I’m not sure yet. However, if we incorporate the airdrop as part of the brand activation, it would definitely be great to carry out the types of activities you just mentioned to get the audience involved and have that first experience using the ecosystem’s products using the tokens awarded. Thank you so much for this suggestion. It’s really helpful and allows us to improve and enhance Astar’s participation. :rocket:

Again, thank you so much for taking the time to provide this valuable feedback, this helps us align the initiative with the vision and goals of the Council members, Agents, and Community members! :raising_hands: :astr:

Great update, Jorge and huge congrats on making the event an official part of Destino Devconnect!

Awesome to see Astar and Soneium featured through dedicated workshops and talks, plus the strong collaboration with Ricardo Palma University and the Ethereum Foundation. The lineup of allied communities looks solid, this will definitely boost local Web3 engagement.

Quick question: will the workshops include any hands-on building or hackathon-style segment where participants can directly experiment with Astar and Soneium tools?

Hi @Matt Thank you so much for your kind words and support, I truly appreciate it! :folded_hands:

Thank you so much, Matt! Yeah, Astar Network and Soneium are projects that are widely known in Japan, however, this isn’t the case in Latin America, at least not yet. Of course, there have already been various initiatives in different formats in the region to help boost both protocols, and, as an active member of the ecosystem, it’s truly rewarding for me to be able to actively contribute, alongside the efforts of @Juminstock , @Vangardem @Audiarmis , to the expansion and adoption of both protocols in Peru and Latin America. I hope that with all these efforts, in the long term, both projects can have a more solid presence locally, I’m fully confident that this will be the case in the near future :raising_hands:

Regarding your question, Astar’s participation in this event was more of an introductory talk to familiarize the audience with both protocols than a workshop per se. Initially, we planned to give away a small number of tokens as a raffle and as part of the activation. However, as @SimonB mentioned, to give this more value to the ecosystem, it would be necessary to hold a workshop where people could use these tokens through the tools offered by the Astar Portal. In this sense, I think it’s a great idea to do this, but at future events more focused on this topic and in an environment where we can guide participants technically through their first steps with dApp Staking and other tools offered by Astar Network and Soneium.

Recently, together with @Audiarmis , we made a brief contact with one of the Blockchain Clubs at a local university, this allowed us to connect with the students, introduce them to the protocols, and assess their receptiveness and interest in learning about and building with them. This gives us a clearer vision and allows us to better organize future outreach to other universities. I believe that these types of workshops, as you mentioned, are undoubtedly important because they allow students to learn about both ecosystems and open up possibilities for holding a local hackathon or participating in a global hackathon like the Polkadot Builder Party, which is currently underway.

Thank you again for your valuable feedback and support, I truly appreciate it! :raising_hands: :astr:

Hi @DrCAO Thank you so much for your feedback! :raising_hands:

Sure, you can count on it! I’m currently waiting for the filmmaker to deliver the final footage, once that’s done, I’ll update the post :rocket:

Thanks for the answers, it’s good to see these outreach efforts taking shape in Peru and Latin America.

The plan for future workshops sounds practical, and I’ll be interested to see how things progress!

UPDATE

Hi Dear Astar Community, as promised, here is the Final Report on Astar Network’s Participation in Blockchain & Web3 – Hacking the Future | URP 2025 Destination Devconnect! :raising_hands:

This event took place on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at Ricardo Palma University.

Astar Network’s participation in this University Conference was undoubtedly a key opportunity to further strengthen our presence in the Web3 ecosystem in both Peru and Latin America, and to continue consolidating Astar, along with Soneium, as one of the most innovative and builder-friendly networks in the region.

I am pleased to announce that the event was a resounding success and below, I present the achievements and a summary of the event :rocket:

This event became the central hub for Web3 in Peru this past quarter. Most of Peru’s Web3 communities joined, along with some of the leading communities in Latin America, for a total of 13 Allied Communities.

Here are some of them:

The event featured 4 truly valuable Community Panels, where each community presented on a specific topic, sharing valuable and educational information, experiences, and advice with the attendees.

You can view the panels here:

The event also featured 3 motivational, educational, and valuable talks for the community, as well as personal anecdotes and advice for attendees.

You can see the talks here:

At this event, I had the great pleasure of giving this motivational talk, aimed at encouraging attendees to take the plunge, overcome their fears, and embrace building in Web3, shaping their ideas and projects, and utilizing the tools the ecosystem offers. As the talk was sponsored by Astar, I provided an introductory overview of the project, its global reach, our local and regional initiatives, our Streams program, and, of course, invited them to delve deeper into the protocols and join our communities. :astr:

Here you can see the full event agenda:

Following my talk, I held a community session with questions related to the topics discussed and interaction with our WhatsApp community, where I gave away 2 merch kits (the same ones offered in the Streams program) and 2 branded t-shirts.

The merch kit consists of the following:

  • 1 T-shirt.

  • 1 Thermo.

  • 1 Notebook.

  • 1 Mousepad.

  • 1 Circular metal keychain.

That’s a great turnout — really encouraging to see so many people join.
Since this was mainly a presentation-style event, how did the participants react?
Also, how did the flow work for getting people to join the WhatsApp group?

As for the budget payout, I think there should be no issues.

Hi @you425 Thank you so much for your kind words and feedback, I really appreciate it! :folded_hands:

Given that the event was a university conference, it was designed in that format with the intention that each panel and talk would provide valuable information, and each participant would then offer advice on their area or topic to the audience. In this sense, there was a very good reception, and many reinforced their knowledge, while others who were completely new to the subject learned a little about it. I think everyone left very happy and with valuable information provided by each of the participants.

Sure, first of all, at the entrance to the event we were handing out brochures and inviting people to register in our community. Some did it right then and there, others later.

Then, at the end of my talk, I held a live raffle for merch kits and t-shirts. To win these prizes, participants had to:

  • Be registered in our community: Many had already registered, and everyone had brochures with our community’s QR code. I also displayed the QR code on screen for those who hadn’t yet joined.
  • Answer a few quick questions.
  • Send a photo to the community’s WhatsApp group: This showed they were at the event. The photo didn’t have to be a selfie; it could be any kind of photo. This was really great because a large part of the audience joined the community and participated by sending a lot of photos from the event. It was also kind of fun since some of the photos were funny.
  • Scan an online raffle platform: This is the method I typically use for these types of activities. Once people scan the QR code, they must enter their full name to avoid duplicate entries. They have 2-3 minutes to do this. The platform has a limited number of entries, so only the fastest to register participate in the raffle. The platform then randomly selects the winners.

With this activity, we achieved that level of interaction. I thought it was really great and dynamic :raising_hands:

Hi @you425 thanks to you for taking the time and giving me your valuable feedback! :raising_hands:

For now, things are quiet. I occasionally post updates about the ecosystem, but I’m currently working on developing future initiatives that will allow me to connect more with community members so they become not just spectators, but active participants. One of the main challenges in managing a community is always finding the best way to keep it active, engaging, and dynamic in order to retain current users and continue developing activities that drive its growth. Our Spaces program has been particularly beneficial, as it has become a frequent platform for sharing information and interacting.

Thank you so much for all your support! :folded_hands:

Hi everyone!

Just sharing a photo taken at the opening of the Proof of Builders Hackathon where I had the pleasure of participating in a community panel with one of the winners of the exclusive merch kit awarded at the Blockchain & Web3 – Hacking the Future | URP 2025 Destination Devconnect! :raising_hands:

Great update. The event clearly delivered strong results solid attendance, high engagement, and meaningful visibility for Astar Network and Soneium in Peru. The panels, talks, and community interactions show real interest from students and builders, and the growth of the WhatsApp community is a strong indicator of that momentum.

Well done to everyone involved. Let’s keep the ecosystem growing.

Thanks for sharing the details of the event, @CJorgeSaez .

I really appreciate the work you and Audi have been doing for a long time . You’ve shown a lot of consistency and passion in promoting Astar, Startale, and Soneium through real-world events, and it’s clear how much effort you put into every initiative.

The report shows a great turnout, and the way you presented the results was very transparent. The IG video also gives a good sense of the atmosphere — people were genuinely engaged, and Astar had solid visibility throughout the event.

The amount you’re requesting feels absolutely reasonable for the work delivered and the impact generated. For me, this proposal deserves full support.

And honestly, I hope to see both you and Audi soon among Astar’s official Ambassadors — you’ve earned it with your dedication and consistent contribution.

Great job, and looking forward to your next events.

Great job, guys! This helps Astar continue to consolidate its position in Latin America. Astar has a special mystique that resonates strongly in Latin America. Thank you for bringing more voices and minds to Astar.

Creating events to showcase the network will always be an essential boost for IRL aspirations. There’s an old saying here that if it’s not on display, it won’t sell. Let’s keep building.
