Unstoppable Grants Proposal: Skylab Corp

Hello hello @knacker65  Really nice gameplay , want to play it more and more :space_invader:
Only a few questions :

  • Do You have any estimated date for the demo release ?
  • Will You include YoPort NFTs in the demo ?

Hey Sorry for the late reply.

YoPort NFts, potentially, we are working on something special with them currently, not sure if we can make it on time there.

Demo release is expected end of August hopefully we are already at a very good stage!

Itā€™s almost the end of november. No Pre-Alpha, No comunication.
Where is the control? can someone from the core team answer?
This dapp has been subsidized since August 2023.
What are the results achieved? I also bought a nfts in the Yoki port, what are they for?

Hey, thanks for your questions,
We are working really hard right now trying to release the first version of it.
There have been a lot of irregularities and challenges that we have faced, so to say that we are very close or close to pre-alpha was actually not correct at the time.
We are currently working on a different, more practical solution and also
The Yoki port files will play a very big role, as in characters for the game role.

This is an answer, like many others. 15 months of development and lots and lots of money received through astar, I think that we should interact and show progress in a different way, respecting the milestones - Images and videos edited every 2-3 months when someone asks you something is not enough and at the same time very easy for you. Nothing is known about this game and you are not asked anything by those in charge, and who should enforce the rules.
I remember that the sale of nfts on singular was supposed to lead to the production of a short film in the style of marvel, or something like that. Was the promise kept? Itā€™s been 3 years and yes I also have those nfts.
Is this game going in the same direction? It seems like we are only reading about big promises here but having nothing concrete not even a technical discussion about it is quite embarrassing. People with graphic skills could fool the community with any kind of promise at this point.
I leave the word to those in charge for respecting the rules.

Thank you for your input. Let us clarify a few points to address any misunderstandings:

  1. While creating a film has been a goal, it was not a direct promise tied to the NFT sales. The sales were specifically for the nested NFTs, which are pioneering as some of the worldā€™s first 3D composable NFTs.
  2. This project requires extensive technical and creative expertise, and we are consistently sharing updates through our monthly recaps to highlight our progress. Developing something of this scale with limited resourcesā€”both financially and in terms of personnelā€”is a challenge. Our team is deeply committed and balances this work with personal lives, often without direct financial gain.
  3. Substantial progress has been made: core game mechanics, combat systems, character models, and map layouts are already well underway, though still in development. We understand that patience is difficult, but meaningful progress in a project like this takes time.

We appreciate your suggestion for more open communication, and we will indeed prepare a recap of our recent monthly progress to provide greater transparency. Thank you for the feedback, and we look forward to sharing more soon.

There are many other artists who have used the RMRK protocol correctly, yours are not 3d nfts, they are videos with additional resources. The fact that you advertise them like this already makes a lot clear.Where are these nfts currently? Kusama is a deprecated network by the rmrk team and therefore it will not be possible to update them without migrating them elsewhere. Furthermore, the promise was made (you say it) it seemed to me that you needed funds to make the film, in fact in the end you did nothing. Is it right to say this? yes.

  1. I didnā€™t understand anything. And I think many didnā€™t understand anything. Making a game is very complex, we agree. What we donā€™t know is a lot and Iā€™ll make you a list:
  • How are nfts used in your game
  • do you foresee a mint phase?
  • How do you plan to use the astar network, what will the onchain transactions be and above all which network will you use? after 15 months I think you should know, native, evm, zkevm. which one?
  • You talked about rmrk, do you plan to use the various protocols? if so, how and which ones specifically? there are different standards

Once again you talk about the constant commitment and professionalism of your team, but you donā€™t release details, it seems like an advertisement. But maybe it isnā€™t so please give us info based on the support rules

  1. Of course after more than 1 year there had been no progress, specifically regarding the assets used:
did you create them all from scratch?
did you use AI, used generic third-party graphic files or is it all the result of your team?
Do you plan to release different levels, or is the pre alpha that was supposed to be released by August 2024 at the latest and of which there is no news to date something different?

After 15 months of support, how many funds in terms of dollars have you received from dapp staking, ucg and selling nfts on yoki port?
Do you think they are sufficient figures for the work you are doing or do you think they are too few and therefore you need more time?

This is what the community should have asked.

Thank you for your questions. Letā€™s clarify a few things:

  1. No Obligation to Answer Every Question Now: Weā€™re not required to reveal every detail at this stage. A clear, structured marketing campaign is planned and will launch when weā€™re ready. We are not an open-source project, so details will be shared on our terms.

  2. NFTs and the RMRK Protocol: Our NFTs are true 3D composable assets, and itā€™s a stretch to call them anything less. Theyā€™re among the first of their kindā€”if you doubt this, feel free to verify with the RMRK team or Team Tricky, our partners. Also, to be clear, no promises were attached to these NFT sales related to a film or other specific funding outcomes. The Yoki NFTs on zkEVM will be integrated into the game, and we will make official announcements about their use at the appropriate time.

  3. Mint Phase: We donā€™t currently have any minting plans, and thereā€™s no active mint phase. While a new collection might be possible in the future, thereā€™s nothing in the pipeline at the moment, and any integration with Astarā€™s composable NFT features will be announced when ready.

  4. Development Process and Asset Creation: Every asset, from music to visuals, is created from scratch by our team of professionals. AI may be used minimally, like for certain background elements, to save time and resources on minor parts of the project. This allows our team to focus on core content creation. The results are truly original and reflect skilled work.

  5. Funding Clarification: Letā€™s correct the misinformation about our funding. Our project has not received 15 months of continuous staking support, nor have we been in Astarā€™s ecosystem that long. The claim of $100,000 in dApp staking support is inaccurate. Over the past two years, weā€™ve accumulated about $50,000 in funding from dApp staking, NFT sales, and related sources. This supports a small, dedicated team of six, including multiple artists. Our funding is limited, but weā€™ve made considerable progress nonetheless.

  6. Technical Use of Astar and Blockchain Integration: Our blockchain strategy is defined and will be shared in due time. We are incorporating RMRK on Astar to harness its composable potential, and are exploring deployment options on Astarā€™s zkEVM. Weā€™ll announce the on-chain functionality and further technical details as we reach each milestone.

  7. Progress on Assets and Game Stages: All the assets you see are original, not pulled from third-party sources. The pre-alpha release has been delayed as weā€™re focused on quality, not quick delivery. Development takes time, especially for a complex project like this, but weā€™re working towards a release.

  8. Additional Funding and Timeline: To date, weā€™ve received about $50,000 across all sources. Given the scope and standards we aim to deliver, this funding is limited. More time and additional funding may support our roadmap, but weā€™re committed to quality regardless.

To close, weā€™re a project that prioritizes actual building over hyped-up promises or endless social media chatter. Weā€™re not here to launch multiple campaigns for appearancesā€™ sake or push content without substance. Instead, weā€™re among the few Web3 projects focused on delivering a real productā€”a genuine game crafted by professional developers and artists. Our updates will come as real progress is made, not just for show.

Here I am not asking you for the source code of the game, but to be transparent. The complete blindness of a colluding community has allowed you to make promises for more than a year, be honest and answer the questions. These are general questions and that everyone who presents themselves here as developers should answer.

Your nfts are not 3d, and if you who created them donā€™t know this, thatā€™s a big problem. It is equippable yes
For example: NFT - Singular
THE IPFS FILE OF THIS NFTS IS A WEBP: https://ipfs2.rmrk.link/ipfs/bafybeifua6hvzegye4kzm2o36ooc4iej7d3ocgsi5minkao3mpuodz3keq/6-p-100P-R4ven.webp

The most common 3d file formats are fbx, obj, stl etcccā€¦
It doesnā€™t seem that these nfts are visible to 360 degrees or inspectable by users, in fact I repeat they are webp
It is a series of overlapping images that form a video. 3d is another thing. Only one team on rmrk has experimented and obtained results with it.

I donā€™t understand how you plan to make your game play if there wonā€™t be a mint of nftsā€¦ will the characters be the nfts of yoki? or did I miss something

OK :+1:

What claim? I was asking if they were enough to create at least a pre-alpha of a game. They seem considerable figures, but maybe Iā€™m wrong

After 15 months, knowing that there is no milestone reached in applying a minimum connection with the blockchain is not comforting. It seems that these things have not yet been addressed, in fact you have never talked about how the game even as an idea should behave on it. Who are the blockchain developers of your team? The Tricky team? How come to this day you still have not managed to correctly migrate your old nfts from ksm?

Ok, thatā€™s an answer that I personally donā€™t like, but maybe others will agree with you.

as above

This is your personal statement. I think that talking about web3 and not having shared after more than 1 year even a single proposal or even just an idea of ā€‹ā€‹interaction of your game with the astar blockchain is ridiculous. And I think it is also ridiculous that no one has ever asked you this question in depth.
With $50,000 you can do a lot of things, itā€™s a more than decent support, there are web2 entities that with this money would have delivered you a very respectable game, adding a token access would have been a triviality for a blockchain developer. But you are of a different opinionā€¦weā€™ll see the results. Have a nice day :+1:

@AstarHood maybe this can interest you.

Thanks for the tag!
Skylab hasnā€™t been on our radar because being part of the Unstoppable Grants Program, we do feel that this program is to give them time to develop while on the program.

As soon they are not anymore part of the program anymore, we should follow up closely with their contributions toward how they create the value for Astar Network and the ASTR token.

No itā€™s not.
they did not respect the terms of ucg with frequent updates (but nobody told them anything). And now they are only in that category on the portal but they do not have active ucg.
Read what we have write above. Even if the project were legit (and I have serious doubts) you absolutely cannot use Astar for more than a year and not provide anything on the technical development.

Thanks for your active participation in the forum.
Iā€™m planning to read the full convo this week and doing more in-depth research.

Even if there was a physical condition of the person in charge, I am sure that he/she did not fulfill his/her reporting obligations.

Even if that is not the case, I think you should delist the application once, as it is not correct that it is currently listed on dApp Stkaing under the UCG framework. You can apply for listing again when the deliverables are completed and actually generate activity on Astar.

Thank you for your feedback. I agree that after the conclusion of the UCG grant period, there hasnā€™t been as much reporting as perhaps expected. However, itā€™s important to note that there were no formal obligations for reporting after the 6-month UCG grant ended, as we are no longer receiving funding or support under that framework. During the grant period, we fully met all reporting requirements and delivered on the agreed-upon milestones. Even after the grant concluded, we have shared updates on our activities from time to time, and we certainly intend to keep the community informed as we move forward.

We are actively building out the Astar ecosystem and are proud to be part of it. We have a deep commitment to contributing to the growth of Astar, and weā€™re excited about the work that Astar, Startale, and Soneium are doing. We believe in Astarā€™s potential and are dedicated to building in this vibrant ecosystem.

While weā€™ve been very active behind the scenes, from a marketing standpoint, we feel itā€™s not yet the right time to launch open campaigns. Nevertheless, weā€™ve participated in the early stages of the LFGM and YOKI campaigns and continue to contribute to Astarā€™s growth and development.

As for the listing on dApp Staking, I do agree with you. It would be more accurate to categorize our project under Gaming or NFT rather than under the UCG grant category, as we are no longer an active participant in the UCG program.

Thank you again for your understanding. We remain committed to the Astar community and are excited for the future.

Answer from a true politician. I would like to understand when it will be possible to be less permissive and spend the funds better. The total disappointment is towards the ecosystem and its management, the dapps play their gameā€¦ Not even being in the correct category is a lack that tells us everything in my opinion.

I am mentioning the delist because it is not correct that we are in a situation where projects are being listed that were not originally launched. This in itself is our fault for not doing anything after the UCG period. Therefore, I am not criticizing you guys.
Therefore, I am saying that the delisting that had to be done should be done now.

dApp Stkaing is basically for dApps launched on Astar (with exceptions, of course, like infrastructure.) Skylab, even if there is community activity, is not really connected to on-chain activity, so in its current state It is considered to be under-qualified for listing.

This needs to be corrected, as the state of remaining on dApp Staking after UCG without being inherently qualified is a mistake.

Hey @you425 the problem is not only UCG, that is the most banal thing in my opinion, after more than 15 months of not having written anything about the use of astar in the project, and only sharing images and trailers that could very well be graphic artifices, of a team that deals with this, is very alarming. Will they grant unlimited funds or is there at least a need for someone to ask: ā€œhey are you working? where are the reports?ā€ Here we are losing the sense of dapp staking, SKYLABS has received by their own admission 50k$, I think it is even more, we could easily check, in any case this money given to a web2 team to make a simple mvp, not a complete game, with a hook to the possession of nft to play, would have been done in a few months and probably better given the experience that skylab does not have on games (it is their first attempt). Without wanting to denigrate anyone, is it right that astar spends this money without having any plus from a technological point of view? By their own admission, updates will be given when they have finished something in this regard, and as of today after 15 months there is nothing.
